The Pretty City Girl | Indian Travel & Lifestyle Blog

Well, well, again stationary purchases, and few regular items. But a big and a FAVOURITE buy too this month.

Green File
I bought it just yesterday. I really cannot wait to submit my project in this file. Of course I'm not submitting my project in this, but will just carry it with the project, during submissions. A fancy file always makes you confident.
I got it for Rs. 11. And I think that is cheap.
It is closed from two sides, and open from the other too (obviously). I loved the teal colour; it looks chic. I got this file from Star Bazaar, Korum Mall.

Forever 21 Wedges
I loved this best buy so much, that I made a post on it immediately a day later. Indeed this is my FAVOURITE buy of the month.
I got these á la mode pair of wedges from Forever 21, Viviana Mall, for Rs. 1460, under discount.
As they are my first shoes, I had planned the budget to be Rs. 1500 or under. What a perfect buy!
I'm in love with these cherry reds.

Parker Beta Pen
And this is yet another favourite buy this month, but favourite with caps lock off (if that makes any difference).
I got this adorable pen for Rs. 125, from a stationary store at hair's breadth to my house.
It's a ball point pen, and not the ink one; but loved it.
The design on it is what IS the best part of the buy.

Napkins
Does this setup look too childish?
Anyway I got these pastel coloured napkins for Rs 30; not Rs. 30 each, but the packet of three napkins for Rs. 30. (which means Rs. 10 each. Good to know that I'm good at maths. Well, just kidding)
Like I told you earlier, napkins are essential in summer. They're so good in absorbing oils from your face.

White Paint and Paint Brush
I'm getting more excited to share the 'Project paint' with you guys. I bought a can of white paint along with the brush for Rs. 80. I'd never thought that the paint would be so inexpensive.
I've painted quite a large part of the furniture, and still the paint is more than half-way left.
Actually I bought this from my neighbour's shop, and so I got a petty discount, but whatever, the price is still acceptable, with or without the discount.

What are your best buys of March?
                         xoxo

I had never heard or read of the word 'Haul' in reference to shopping, until I heard it in the YouTube videos. So I searched it in the online dictionaries, where they meant the meaning was something totally absurd in respect of shopping. But then I searched the Urban Dictionary, and then that's how I could calm down.
I definitely cannot write a post or the post title, without knowing the meaning of the words it has.

On Urban Dictionary, the meaning of the word 'haul' is 'shopping spree'. So let me change the title from Haul to MINI Haul, because I haven't shopped crazily, but just picked few items.

I went with my cousin brother and my aunt to Star Bazaar. She had to buy toiletries, detergents, groceries, etc. So she called me to accompany them.
While just passing by the racks, I picked up few items, and put them in the cart (and of course, these items include stationary too!)

These are the items. Not a big haul, but anyway, I loved every item I purchased.

Green File
Firstly, I loved the colour of the file. It is sort of teal, but more towards the green colour. Other colours available were yellow, white and blue. This was the best amongst all.

It opens from two sides. The other sides are closed. I'll put the assignment sheets and then carry them to the college on submission dates.
And I got this file for Rs. 11. Indeed a best buy.

Apsara Erasers
The eraser I had in my pencil pouch wasn't the best, really. It often turned the page black while rubbing. And I realized it while I was drawing diagram of a DSLR, before the exam.
I saw this packet, and immediately put it in the cart. I got these two erasers for Rs. 10. I guess it is expensive.

Sheet Protectors
I used these protectors to submit my assignments and projects; hardly one or two are left now. I got this pack expensively; 10 sheet protectors for Rs. 25.
The next time I go to the Crawford Market, I'm going to buy these in wholesale rate. They're so handy. I often submit my papers in these. They make your project to stand out amongst other projects.

Real Mixed Fruit Juice
I'm planning of joining gym from the 1st of the next month, and no, I'm not fooling you.
I got this juice-can so that I could have a healthy drink after gym. And I just got one juice-can, to see how long it gets to finish the can, and then accordingly I'll purchase the next time.
I got it for Rs. 90.

Do you go shopping at such departmental stores?

If you're a Windows Phone user, or maybe Windows 8 and/or 8.1 OS computer user, I am sure you might be frustrated with the Bing apps, well especially the Bing Search. But I guess you won't be frustrated by Bing henceforth; well if not all the Bing apps, at least the Bing Food and Drink app.

I still use the theme we built together. I've pinned this app on the start-screen, because I've vowed to help my mom in this vacation. So I'll make a recipe or two with this app.
The shortcut on the start-screen acts as a Window Display; it reminds you of the different recipes you SHOULD make.

As soon as you open the app, a mouth-watering plate of delicious food is in front of you. You can either sigh looking at it, or make it.

This big picture of a food item tells you the Top Rated recipe of the day. It can be from the Indian cuisine, or some other.

After you scroll to the right, you see a menu. You can check from one of your own 'collection', add a recipe to this app, or browse through the meal plan. (Don't worry; I'm going to explain everything.)

There are these options in general.

1. Collections | This is how the Collections look like after clicking on it. I have two collections, 'For Breakfast', and 'Done'. Each of the collection has two items as of now.

This is to the left of the screen after you click the 'Collections' option. It acts a guide to add and edit the collection(s).

Now how to add your recipes to the 'Collections'?
Open the recipe you want, and on the bar which is to the extreme bottom, select the 'Add to Collections' option. After selecting that, you can see the options shown in the picture above. You can either add the recipe to the already existing collection, or can create a new.

2. Add a Recipe | I've never added a recipe of my own on this app, but you can definitely, if you want to.
Here is the overview of the option 'Add a Recipe'.

3. Shopping List | This is my Shopping List. I love this feature of the app the most.

Adding ingredients to the Shopping List is a piece of cake.
After opening the recipe, all you worry about is whether you have the required ingredients at home, or not. But Bing Food and Drink app has the best feature for this. So you needn't worry.
All you have to do is select the 'Add to Shopping List', and you get the list of items that are required to make the recipe. You need to just select or un-select the items according to their availability.
And then you will find these items in the Shopping List of your own.
Blissful, isn't it?

4. Today's Meal Plan | The Meal Planner is something you can plan your everyday Meal with.
You can select different days, and add them to different 'Courses' that you would have the meal at.

To add a recipe to the Meal Planner, just select the 'Add to Meal Planner' option after opening the recipe, and then select the day.

Now browsing through the recipes from the options on the 'Main' screen is fun.
You can either choose from the Indian Recipes and Desserts, or browse all the recipes in general.

This is the screen you get after opening the 'Browse Recipes'.
You get general options by Bing in the right, and the 'Filters' in the left.

These are the 'Filters' that you get. I love this feature too. It's so perfect. (It even has the scope to select vegetarian food by the 'Dietary' option that it has.)

After selecting one of the filters, say 'Cooking Method', you get the above options.
Isn't it impeccable?

So this is one of the recipes that I found out easy, and would make in the future, and is the part of the Collection 'For Breakfast'.

To the right, you find the overview of the recipe, with the time it will take, the difficulty level, the cuisine, etc.

And to the extreme bottom, you will find these options, like 'Add to Collections', 'Print', 'Pin to Start', etc.
(Please zoom in the picture to read the options.)

Not just do I have Bing Food and Drink app on the desktop, but I have it in my Windows Phone too.
The last time I made 'Vegetable and Cheese Paratha' using this app, I desperately needed a way to tell me the steps on my phone. Because going to my room to check the steps on the computer, after every step, was hectic and frustrating.
So I just thought of searching the app on my phone, and there it was! I immediately downloaded it, searched the recipe, and made it!
The recipe was heavenly.

It has all the amazing features like the desktop app.

And you can select the Filters too.

I made two recipes using this app, and would like to share them.

Cheesy Potato Garlic Roast
I ate this along with Bhakris.

Vegetable and Cheese Paratha
I made it as a breakfast item. But we had it as a Brunch item. I started preparing it around 11, so it got pretty late until I chopped the veggies and stuff.
However, my mom turned them into a Paratha. I just prepared the fillings, and was directing her.

Almost three months of the 'new year' are over, and I would say I'm well versed with the agenda now. I exactly know how to maintain, write, and read it. So if you're still confused, or waiting for a 'How to Maintain your Agenda' post, then it is here.

I'm trying to make sure that this post is given my complete attention. Because mostly, the long posts are so long, that I am left wordless towards the end. So I'm making sure to begin writing this post in the afternoon, and not in the eventide.

I'm just done with painting an object for the post 'Project Paint', which I shall write soon. Well, not the entire painted object, but at least a 'phase' of it. I've got just too many things to do in a lesser period of time.

To begin with, the agenda maintenance can be good with an agenda, planner, organizer, or even a filofax.

Firstly, keep a pencil pouch near your agenda, and take it along with you wherever you go. And it should contain all those things that you will need to maintain your agenda.

These are the writing essentials that I use. I've colour-coded the different aspects of my life using the fine liners.
Orange colour is for the stuff related to college. For example, exams, tests, submissions, study time-table, renewing railway train pass, etc.
Green is for TPCG. I use it to write all the stuff related to the blog. I don't just write what posts are supposed to be written, but also mention different milestones, mails, replies, etc.
The Purple is for anniversaries and birthdays.
The Pink keeps track of the menstrual cycle.
The Lavender is for everything that excludes in the other four colours.
Pencil is to tick-mark the achieved goals/tasks.
The Pen is for generic purpose to write things on the sticky note.

I use the plastic cover to keep the Expense Book, tucked in. It was sometimes frustrating to carry two different books wherever I went. So I decided to tuck the book inside the plastic cover.

I've applied the same trick to the back cover too, and have tucked in my Blog Book inside.

If you need a strong bind for the agenda, you can use washi tapes. My agenda has a slightly weak binding, so I've used it.

I got this idea from a video on YouTube. I've stuck the entire pile of stick notes on the first page of the agenda. I write important lists or important tasks on it, and then tear off the page after the task is accomplished.

This is the Yearly view. There are six more pages like this. There are two pages for a single topic. So, in total, there are four such topics that have the Yearly views.
The first one is the Birthdays and Anniversaries. I just draw a small heart in the column, like you can see in the picture.

I've used the second Yearly view for all the College related work, like different projects, submissions, exams, etc. I write them under this view, with a small star, indicating the same.

The third view I've used for the Crimson Wave. You girls can seriously be benefited by this idea.
If suppose, today is my first day of period, I'll write 1. in the Yearly view, under today's date. And then will write 2., 3., 4., etc. accordingly. And as soon as I'm done with all the days, I'll just write a 'P' in a circle in the next month's date, according to my cycle. This 'P' will be indicative of the Predicted start of my Period in the next month. You can plan your vacations according to the Ps. It is very much beneficial, trust me.

The fourth Yearly view is for the To-Dos. I put a star mark with the respective colour in the date box. For example, if I have a submission, I'll put a star in Orange. If I have to clean my closet, I'll put a star in Lavender and so on.

I had made some terrible mistakes on one of the pages. So I stuck a red tinted sheet on it. For a good support to the adhesiveness, I just stuck a washi tape along the borders. Finally, I've written 'MONTHLY' on a piece of white paper, indicating that the Monthly view begins from here.

I've used a white u-pin to attach the previous months. Like here, March month is going on, so I've attached the MONTHLY page with January and February. So the next time I open the agenda, I'll be directed to the month that is going on, and not search through the months searching for it.
I've used a white colour pin to match the theme of the agenda.

I don't look at the Monthly view, nowadays. I just don't know why. I prefer Weekly view.
As you can see there are different coloured pens used to indicate the happenings, according to our colour code.

The same trick of a u-pin I've applied here. But this time I've used a binder clip, because the pages were more. I've used a black and white vintage binder clip to match the theme of the agenda.
The idea is similar- To take me to the on-going week.

In the Weekly view, we get ample of space to write the daily tasks, notices, etc. And this is my favourite view. I always look up to the news/tasks in this view itself. I trust this view, because the information written is absolutely specific.

I tick-mark the accomplished tasks with a pencil. Not just the task, but the date too. Whenever all the tasks of a day are accomplished, I tick-mark near the date, and similarly do with the week too.

I've used the flags by Post-it to mark the page I am on. For example, the fourth week is going on, and hence the flag is on this page.

In the last few pages of the agenda, which are ideally for the notes, I've written down the colour codes. And then stuck a flag on this page too.

I also write the day of the period, and the 'P' on the corner of the weekly boxes.

I've used this idea from this month only. You guys tell me whether it looks good or shabby. I've used a red colour to mark the government holidays.

Whenever I come across a task to do in, say two days, I make a note of it in all the three views. The yearly has a symbol, the monthly has just two or three words, and the weekly has the whole line.

I hope you got some tips in maintaining the agenda. This was a very long post, and I'm exhausted now.
