The Pretty City Girl | Indian Travel & Lifestyle Blog

Finally after two days, I could write a post. I was at Pune and so I couldn't write. Anyway, here are my favourites:

Cousins' Meet
Whenever I meet my cousins, I am the happiest chap around. I love my cousins a lot and they form a great part of my life. This Raksha Bandhan, I had been to Pune to celebrate it with them. Luckily, I had a holiday at office and college. Though 3/4th of the day was spent working from Pune, I was happy to have such a warm company of my cousins. We celebrated the day in the evening and then went to Papa John's for dinner. We slept at my Pune's house and gosh! It's the best thing, truly!

Office
I am madly in love with my office. I just love the way I go there after my college, sit and work, sip coffee sometimes, or gulp down green tea--everything I do at office makes me happier. Right from the work, to the cool atmosphere--simply everything!
Life
I am happy with the way life is going on currently. Irrespective of how less of a time I have now. I get only weekends to enjoy, that too, Saturday we have two lectures. So, half the Saturday goes wasted. Still I am happy that I am loving everything about my life right now.

Koovs!
With the increasing confidence, I was quite sure of making it through Koovs's Students Program (KGTC). But when the results were out, and I was selected along with other 200 people, it gave me more confidence. There is a sea of fashionistas out there, and even then, they chose me. I am beyond happy and proud of myself.
Printables
Printables are my personal favourites. I designed four printables this month: Assignments Aqua Blue, Assignments Pink Vintage, Assignments Pink Fashion, and September 2015 Layout.

Pune Relaxation
I cannot deny that it was too tiresome to go to Pune on Saturday in the early morning, and come back on Sunday in the evening. But apart from that, whatever time I got, it was definitely relaxing.
Meaning of Weekends Understood
All my life I tried to figure out why the young working population always relished the 'weekends'. Now I clearly know that weekends are the most important and highly needed breaks one can ever ask for. Though I enjoy working, I look forward to weekends for meeting my friends and relaxing at home.

Smoothened Hair
I smoothened my hair and they're so very better now.
Office Desk
One of the reasons why I love my office is my desk. It's still under construction and prettier things are to be added, but regardless of that, my desk keeps me happy. I feel happy to be sitting there and it feels like home. I always yearn to go back to my desk and start working. I don't mind eating lunch there as well.

The Energy in Me
This is beyond guesses and has left me totally surprised! It is unbelievable that I have so much of energy left in me even after constantly working from morning 5:30 (college) to night 9:00 (work and home). After coming home, I still manage to write my blog. Another surprising thing is that I am not cranky by the end of the day too. I smile at strangers in the train, I hum and walk, I have a pleasant face throughout. I don't know how come I have so much energy left, but I am way too glad that I have it.

Different Nail Polish Shades
This month, I had applied dark orange, light pink, lavender (currently on nails), and purchased a lighter nude shade. It's crazy how these shades look on me.

Pink Mud Bucket
I loved it but I hate the company. I had posted such a long and detailed review about it, but these guys did not regram my image on Instagram. I guess they are biased and regram photos of only those accounts that have more number of followers. I found this totally unfair and I wouldn't write anything about this company henceforth.

Utility Pouch
My pouch is my best friend as it holds so many things. I currently use a Fab Bag zebra printed pouch. I carry it everyday.
Nail Polish Hack
You already know this hack!
Outfits
My outfits lately have been really nice. I'm sorry to boast, but that's the truth. My nails definitely add to my confidence.

Photoshop Hack
If you have observed, all the images on TPCG have been whiter and more professional looking than earlier. All thanks to the new trick I have learnt!
Good-Looking People
I have met some women so beautiful, stylish, and confident that they really become my inspiration. I have come across many such women (thanks to Koovs, Zoom, and my college). I sometimes get mesmerized by their attitude or the way they carry themselves.

Dragon Ball Z
This month, I have watched over a 100 episodes of DBZ and I have a crush on Goku. Is it normal to have crushes on cartoon characters?
Fab Bag
I had received my August bag long time ago, but I don't have time for a photo-shoot. I'll try now, after finishing this post.

Whew! Such a long list of favourites this month! x

Finally, the weekend is here. Though I have lot of work to do, especially tomorrow, I am happy that it's a holiday. My brother was to go Pune today. When we realized this weekend was Raksha Bandhan, my cousins forced me to come too. I will be traveling to Pune tomorrow, and I'm very excited.

I came back home from office at 8:30 and now after dinner and today's post, I will pack the bag. The essentials are a laptop, HDMI cable, hard disk, glasses, and rakhis! Well, these essentials are for the stay, and not the journey. I wrote down the mandatory items on OneNote.

There's no time to write further as I have to write a post on my college's blog. See you tomorrow! I'll try writing here. x

I had made this dish long time back, but was waiting for an opportunity to write it here. This was a pretty yummy dish, so make sure to take it down. Also, if you need printables of recipes, let me know.

So for the people who don't know what lauki is, lauki is Bottle Gourd. So we are gonna make balls (koftas) out of bottle gourd. I took this recipe online*.

Preparation Time: 45 Minutes

Cooking Time: 15 Minutes
Serves: 3
Veg/Non-Veg: Veg

Ingredients:

  • Bottle Gourd
  • Gram Flour
  • Salt
  • Red Chili Powder
  • Garam Masala
  • Turmeric
  • Coriander Powder
  • Cumin Seeds
  • Onions
  • Tomatoes
  • Cashews
  • Ginger
  • Garlic
  • Green Chilies

Steps:

For Koftas:
1. Wash, peel, and grate the bottle gourd.

2. Squeeze the grated gourd and remove the juice. Keep the juice aside. We will require it later.
3. Take the grated gourd and add gram flour, salt, and chili powder.
4. Mix and make small balls. If you add water in it, you will be able to shape the balls easily.

5. In a frying pan, deep fry or shallow fry the balls until they turn golden brown. Keep aside.

For Curry:

1. Make a smooth paste of tomatoes, onions, ginger, garlic, cashews, and green chilies. Keep aside.
2. In a vessel, put oil. Add cumin seeds and let them crackle.
3. Later, add the paste. Mix.
4. After the paste turns thicker, add turmeric, salt, red chili powder, coriander powder, and garam masala. Mix until the oil starts leaving the paste.
5. Add the bottle gourd juice. Add water. Stir.
6. Let it cook for few minutes. Taste and check if anything is missing and add it accordingly.

7. Add the kofta balls. Cook for some time.

Tada! Your dish is ready.

This post is exclusive for those girls who are planning to smoothen/straighten their hair or are in those sad three days post the treatment. Today is my third day, counting the treatment day. That means, tomorrow I'm gonna wash my hair, and my happiness has no bounds.
There are many reasons why I'm happy- 1. I hate oily hair. 2. I will experience smoothened hair for real after the first wash. 3. Washing hair makes me happy. 4. I'm too irritated to not touch or play with my hair.

So, the fourth one--I'm too irritated to not touch or play with my hair. If you're new in this whole smoothening world, let me tell you that there are numerous things that we can't do in the three dreadful days after doing these treatments. Life becomes a living hell, and more than that, the face becomes an oil factory. You can't wash your face, so you need wet tissues. In this disgusting phase of life, you need some measure to hold those annoying tresses back; and that measure is the scarf.

Finally after smoothening thrice already, I realize this little trick during the fourth time of this treatment. Yes, you read it right. Over six years, I have smoothened my hair four times. At last I got a hack for holding back the strands without using hairbands, clips, elastic, pins, etc., as they're not allowed.

Today, for a change it was a rainy day. It meant my hair could get damaged easily. To get rid of that, I tied my head with a scarf. The scarf was tied lightly, but the knot was tight enough. Though this look was funny, I had an appropriate reason.

Even you can put a scarf around your hair to prevent them from flying, getting wet, or coming on your face.

How do you survive those three days post treatment?

There are just four steps for good hair. These steps are so simple and easy, but we often ignore them. If you follow them religiously, you'll have better hair, I promise.

I've smoothened my hair again, and it is high time I start taking its care. I thought and jotted down these simple steps that are gonna give me gorgeous mane:

Combing Everyday
I'm sure you might be combing your hair before going out, but what about before hitting the bed? Before you sleep, comb down your hair, put it in a braid, ponytail, or a bun, seeing that it is comfortable, and only then sleep. I leave my hair open as they're pretty short, but this just means I'm inviting damage to my hair. This is the first step to knot free, and well maintained hair. Also, don't comb it that frequently.

Oiling Before Shampoo
Oh, God I haven't oiled my hair in months. Finally, yesterday, before going for smoothening, I had oiled my hair. I took a hair wash; and trust me, my hair were so smooth. After reaching the salon, I was looking at my hair and was thinking if it was the right thing I was doing by smoothening my hair, as they looked so good.
Oil has too much power in it. I've been stressing on this since long time. Apply oil a night before the hair wash, or an hour before, if you decide to wash it suddenly.

Using Shampoo Sparingly
I've come across so many girls that shower every alternate day, or even every day. Please don't be one of them. Washing your hair every day is gonna make your hair look good, but after passage of some time, you are going to have hair fall, dandruff, grey, thin, and damaged hair. Too much shampooing is not good for hair and the scalp. Use shampoo once every three days, if you live in a humid area. Otherwise, twice a week is just perfect. Remember how during school days you just washed your hair on Sundays? Stick to that if you still have better hair.

Using Conditioner
Though many experts say that conditioner greys your hair, one cannot ignore the fact that they smoothen and improve the health of the hair too. Conditioners have moisture content, which is definitely good for the texture and health.

So girls, if you follow these four simple steps, you are sure to have a good mane throughout. x

I had promised you on my Twitter and Facebook accounts that I'd be sharing an office related post soon. So here's it. I have compiled few essentials.

Inspirational Quotes | I love my office. The notice board behind the computers are decorated with inspirational quotes, sayings, pictures, notes, etc.; it's fun to peep around. Carry such quotes that would inspire you to work hard. You can also pin photographs here (in case you live away from family, or your better half lives away from you). The best way to get quotes is to search them online and print.

Hand Sanitizer | You can carry it in your utility pouch or keep one on your desk. You don't know how dirty your hands are, so it is better to sanitize them with a hand gel or wash them with water.

Novel | When the computer is installing a software or is down due to some virus, then you can definitely read a novel. Last Friday, I was waiting for my supervisor to check the work I had done. As she was busy in her work, I had to wait. Meanwhile, I read few pages of Jane Eyre.

Tray/Bucket/Bowl | Keep inside almost all the little items. I have used my Pink Mud bucket, and have kept u-pins, eraser, binder clips, visiting cards, pen, pencils, and stick notes.

Stick Notes | These are your best friend when you want to get reminded about something. At my office, Mondays are report days, and so on a cute stick note, I have written "Mondays = Reports!"

Notice Board Pins | If you have a notice board behind your computer, make sure you ask for pins, or bring yours.

Eraser | If there's a pencil, an eraser is needed too.

U-pins | If you have lot of paper work, I'm sure you would require u-pins.

Sweatshirt | Offices are like the coldest place. If that's the case with yours too, keep a sweatshirt in one of the drawers/compartments of your desk. Make sure you keep a professional looking one.

Mug | I haven't kept a mug, but many people in my office do. It's any time better to drink coffee/green tea from ceramic mugs than from those paper glasses.

Lipstick | If you have overly outgoing colleagues, you would need some touch-up. Keep necessities like a pink lipstick, kajal, and compact powder for a backup. You never know when you're going for a party!

Pouch | Keep sanitary pad, pen drive, USB cord and other expensive stuff in a makeup pouch. Make sure to keep it inside a lock or in the far end of the drawer/compartment.

Hair Elastic | Keep away your bangs while working.

USB Cord | In case you don't have a computer for yourself, then keep a charger there. But if you have a computer, keep a USB cord, and connect to the CPU.

Spoon | Keep a plastic spoon, just in case.

Nutri Bars | Avoid spending on canteen. Instead, save your hard earned money by chewing on these bars.

Sanitary Pad | You never know...

Pen Drive | You will always require it to transfer files or carry files to the place where you want to print any important document. If there's no online drive/cloud services available, you'll need a PD.

Pills | In between all the stress, your head will literally start banging. A headache pill would surely help you. Also, if your chums start and there's a bad stomachache, you can take your period pill.

Earphones/Headphones | If your work involves listening to sound/music, this is must.

Tissues | If you are having your lunch at your desk that day, then you can use these tissues to temporarily clean your hands.

Pen Stand | You know why.
TPCG's Pick: STAPLES PEN STAND

Pens, Pencil | Keep the best of them for a fun time at office.

Notebook |
I have kept a cute pink coloured notebook for taking down notes.

What are your office desk essentials? x

My uncle had given his Reebok watch to my brother. And later, I took it from him (my brother) when he got a new one. The watch had black leather belt.

I tried wearing that watch once, but as it had a big 'men' type dial, it didn't go well, especially with that black leather belt of it. So I tried something totally different.

I went to the watch repairer's shop and asked him to change the leather belt to a classy metallic silver one. I put on a new cell, and off I went, absolutely showing off my wrist.

If you have a watch with good dial but bad straps, you can always change the straps. The watch gets a completely new look after changing the straps.

Here are some of the pictures from my Instagram account, where the watch with metallic straps is featured:

I have one amazing trick for having super nice nails all the time. I am not a frequent nail polish applier, so I'll try if this whole trick works.

During my graduation, there was a girl who had perfect nails every single day. Either she used to take the whole polish off and have bare nails, or perfectly manicured ones. I was amused by the frequency of colours she changed. She was an athlete, so I wondered how she got time. Therefore, I just asked her the secret behind getting time to change the colours. That's when she told me she changed the colour every week. She painted her nails on Saturdays or Sundays.

As I am a super busy person now, I only would get Saturdays and/or Sundays to do any of such things. So I will reapply polish every weekend.

And the hack? Well, carry the polish that's on your nails, at that time, wherever you go; that is, keep it in your utility pouch. Whenever you feel like your nails are chipping, just apply a slight amount of polish to that area. Be careful of not putting coats, or else the polish will come off sooner.

As of now, there's a pink polish on my nails; so I have kept that bottle in my utility pouch. Now I don't fear the chipping, as I know I have the backup with me.

I hope this hack was useful enough.

Goodnight. x

I literally feel like a handbag expert. I have more than 20 handbags, and every time I pass a handbags store, I tend to feel like Isla Fisher from the movie Confessions of a Shopaholic.

I was coming back from my office today and I thought how inappropriate my bag's handle is. So I thought of writing down all those factors to consider while buying a handbag. (This one is for all those girls who are growing up from a girl carrying a canvas tote to a lady with leather handbag!)

One | Colour | This one is probably the fist factor we look while purchasing a handbag. If you purchase a light coloured bag, make sure that its material is washable. For example, I have a white coloured handbag and I can easily clean the dirt on it with a wet-cloth or wash it down by water and soap. However, I have a red bag, which has white fonts on it; I cannot wash it anytime I want and need to allot time for the same.

Two | Price | See to it that the price you are giving for your handbag is worth. If the handbag is small in size and still costs you a grand, then please don't purchase it. Once in a while, it is okay to purchase expensive bags, but see to it that they are either sturdy or would make a statement.

Three | Material | Look out for the material as well. Though this isn't really an important factor, looking for a monsoon-friendly handbag is no harm. If you're living in a place where it rains a lot, buy a non-leather handbag. Avoid cotton/canvas bags as they get dirty pretty quickly and are tough to wash (rather tough to dry!).

Avoid short handles

Four | Handle | This is such an important point to consider! Go out for bags that have longer handles, so that they are comfortable to carry on shoulders too. We cannot put bags on our arms all the time. While catching a super-crowded local train, you are forced to put your bag on your shoulder. See to it that the bag has a long handle. I have many classy handbags that don't have long handles, and they're so hard to carry!

Worst kind of stitching/type

Sturdy!

Strongest stitching/type

Five | Stitching | Please be careful about the stitches. See to it that the bag you're purchasing is designed in such a way that no matter how much weight you carry, you will be sure about its handles being intact.

Six | Capacity | Check if there is enough space inside the bag. Check for the opening too. I have a green bag with its opening being so small that hardly anything goes inside.

Seven | Weight | I have many bags that are heavy even though they are empty. Be careful about the  weight of the bag you're purchasing. If the bag is light, then that would be great, as you feel light too.

Eight | Pockets | Avoid too many pockets, but at the same time, there should be at least one pocket on the outer side and one in the inner. Outer pocket is to keep earphones, coins, etc., and inner pocket is to keep sanitary pads, makeup products, cellphone, etc.

Nine | Care | If you're purchasing from a store, ask the seller for the methods to take the bag's care. If you're purchasing a branded one, it might have certain instructions, or you can ask the store helper.

Ten | Sling Option | Go for the bags that have an option to convert a handbag into a sling/messenger bag. When you want to use both of your hands for something, the long straps of your bag would be of great help.

Hey there! I had ordered a Pink Mud Bucket, and got it delivered the next day! This was the fastest delivery. Even Amazon.in delivers in one day usually.

I bought this bucket for Rs. 1000. I calculated and thought that 1000 was a good deal.

Anyway, here are the contents inside the bucket:
  1. Bag
  2. Bucket
  3. Tipsy Eau De Toilette
  4. Black Pops
  5. Purple Pops
  6. Lacey Body Mist
  7. Notebook
  8. Visiting Card

Though the bag is pretty, it was damaged when it got delivered.

It came in a pretty pack, so it is a great option for gifting someone.

I loved this cute bucket. I'm gonna keep it on my desk in my office to store supplies and other necessities.

The height of it is 11cm.

And the breadth is 17cm.

How cute is the pink gift wrap?

I loved this book, and I'm thinking of keeping this in my office.
The length of the book is 22cm.

On the backside, they have their logo printed, which makes this book even cooler.

The breadth of the book is 15cm.

I seriously agree what this quote says. As I have a super-sharp smelling ability, odours are totally turn-offs for me. I can relate to this quote.

The book has basic single lines.

Next is the Pops. In one 'black' packet, there came black and purple coloured pops. I liked the cute packaging and the fragrance, however, these pops leak terribly. Already there's just 20ml of perfume inside each, and it is already leaking. God knows how much I would get to use in the end.

The length of the pops is 9cm.

Here are those two pops. They have Fresh and Woody fragrance, which is anytime better than fruity or floral, I feel.

Next is the Tipsy Eau De Toilette. It has a Cranberry fragrance.

It is 50ml. More than anything, I love the look of this. Black and pink! TPCG's theme.

The bottle is 12.5cm long.

Lastly, it is the Lacey Body Mist. Aqua is its fragrance. I always wanted a body mist of aqua fragrance, and I'm happy about this new one.

The drawback is, the smell faded away today, in spite of not doing any physical hard work or sweating. I was comfortably sitting in my AC office, and when I removed the sweatshirt, the perfume was gone.

Its length is 14cm.

And the breadth is 6cm.

Overall, I would definitely recommend you to buy this bucket. They give you options to choose. Also, you can ask them for the fragrance they have. They will reply you quite early, and COD is available too.

Lots of love.

Hey! Today was a working day, in spite of it being an Independence Day. As I am working in ET Now (an Indian news channel), I obviously was needed there to put PM's speech, rallies, and more (though not really). For that, I had worn almost a similar outfit. I've compiled all the pieces I'd worn. Though the brands were different, you would definitely get an idea about the outfit.

In case you want to buy any of the following, click on the respective images.

Orange Handbag

White Shirt/Tunic

Dark Blue Jeans

 Orange Nail Polish

Silver Watch

Green Flats

Red Lipstick

You can perhaps change the colour of the bag to green and the colour of the shoes. I did not have orange colored shoes, so wore the green ones. Also, my green bag is smaller, and did not have the capacity to hold my Pulao-stuffed tiffin. So had to go with the orange one.

Do share me your Independence Day outfits on any of my social media platforms.

Happy Independence Day! Jai Hind!
