The Pretty City Girl | Indian Travel & Lifestyle Blog

You guys might know it already that I go to gym for a month now. I used to go there in the last summer vacation as well, but discontinued it due to hectic college schedule. And again, I might take a month's break, as I'm flying to China (!) on the next month's 13th.

Anyway, last year there wasn't an electronic treadmill. But this year they did gather some extra cash by increasing the gym fees. One day I went to the gym as usual, and saw this article stuck on one of the walls, near the newly set up 'electronic' treadmill.

I didn't go through the entire article, but just read the sub-points (exactly in the similar way I study during exams). And I loved the article, rather I found it informational.

Can you read the sub-points? I know you can't! Let me just tell them to you, anyway...

Here are the mistakes that you MIGHT be committing while walking/running/panting on a treadmill-

1. Holding the Sidebars | I must admit, I commit this mistake, but nowadays I've started keeping my hands off the sidebars. Fitness Experts say that keeping the hands on the sidebars is not a hard-work in actuality. Yes, you might be sweating crazily, however, you're doing it wrongly. If you hold the sidebars, it is as if you're changing the 'natural' method of walking. I also know that you cannot keep away your hands from the sidebars, as you fear you might fall behind and that everybody will laugh at you after that, but you need to obey what is written in the article. For some period of time, you can definitely hold the sidebars, but then later, you must be able to walk on the treadmill, without the aid of these sidebars.

2. Old Footwear | Shalini Bhargava, Fitness Expert at JG's Fitness Centre, says that one must invest in a good pair of sports shoes. And this rule doesn't just go to treadmill, but for every sport, along with just a jog on the jogging-track. And trust me, I am a victim of an inappropriately-fitting sports shoes. Well I wear my brother's shoes, which he wore for Cricket some ten years ago! I cannot ask my parents for new shoes, because currently, I want heels, and not sports shoes. Anyway, proper sized shoes are a must. If you have a bad pair of shoes, it's ultimately going to lead to pains (ankles, calves, knees, etc.).

3. Sticking to the Same Routine | One must change their conventional style of working-out on a treadmill. If you do not do so, your body will get used to the routine, and it might be dangerous. You need to keep on working with different speeds, duration, tricks and the before-treadmill-work-out.

4. Steep Incline | I never have tried a steep incline on a treadmill, so I cannot give my opinions and 'expert comments' on it. But if you run with a steep incline, maybe that is a mistake.

5. Wearing Loose Clothing | Oops, I'm the biggest stupid person here, but I just cannot wear tight clothes. I don't know what is the negative side of wearing loose clothes on treadmills (poor me, that part of the article is not on the wall), but there has to be one. So if you have the option of choosing between tight and loose clothes, and I would say (or rather experts would say) to wear tight ones!

6. Skipping Warm-Up | I don't know if it is normal, or I am an abnormal person, but I need my attention while running on a treadmill. If I'm not in a mood, I just cannot even walk, and after spending only two minutes on it, I feel like I will choke (and die!). I guess it has got to do something with the warm-up.
Before you keep your feet on a treadmill, make sure you have warmed up at least for five to seven minutes. You can concentrate on stretching at this time.

7. Talking on the Phone | Wait...who even does that? You definitely must be a special kind of stupid.

8. Standing Directly on the Belt | Don't ever jump on to the (side) belts, directly. You might hurt yourself by slipping off. If you want to use the side-belts, you can stand on them, start the treadmill, and then start walking.

9. Abruptly getting off the Treadmill | Why in the world do you even want to get off the treadmill without stopping it or slowing it down? I'm sure no fire has broken out anywhere.

Let us all thank Lisa Antao for this amazing piece of information. I hope we all (including me) follow these tips.

Most of you know this, and follow this, but I still want to share it with you all, 'cause I just love the pages I have bookmarked.

1. Apps // This bookmark is by default.

2. Hathway // Well, that is my Internet connection. I have to log in, and only then I can get an access to the Internet.

3. Blogger // After the Hathway bookmark, this is the first bookmark that I open. I open it, think of a topic, and then begin writing (and also take regular breaks).

4. TPCG // After posting, sometimes I click on this bookmark, instead of clicking on the 'View Blog' tab inside Blogger. (I love TPCG's Favicon!)

5. FB // I hate to call Facebook as 'FB', but I had to write FB here, due to space constraints. This is the second tab I open immediately after opening the Internet. And as I am always signed into all the accounts on my computer, it makes the whole bookmarking process fruitful.

6. Free Movies // This is where I watch movies or TV shows through live streaming. I owe a lot to this site.

7. Torrent // You can search a movie's availability instantly if you bookmark the Torrent Search Engine.

8. AFC // The full form goes as Arsenal Football Club. If I have to check for updates or news, I open this bookmark. And again, the bookmark's name is AFC and not Arsenal due to the space issue.

9. Instagram // Sometimes you get bored hitting the refresh button again and again on the Instagram app. This is when you can open Instagram's website version, and take a look at the missing pictures. Though this site doesn't allow you to check the followers and few other features, it still can help you stalk those girls.

10. Images // It is seriously annoying to open Google, and then click on the Images, then type whatever you want, and then hit Enter. So, I bookmarked Google Images itself, and renamed the bookmark as 'Images'.

11. YouTube // If One Tree Hill's current season is over, and the next season is yet to come to me, and there are no movies that I haven't watched, I simply go to YouTube and watch videos. The videos vary widely.

12. Twitter // In between, I used to post inspirational sayings/quotes on the blog's Facebook page. I usually copy-paste these sayings/quotes from twitter. And if I'm on the computer, and I have to tweet about something, I don't tweet it via my cellphone, but via the Twitter's website version.

13. Thesaurus // An online dictionary and a heaven for me.

14. LetsIntern // I knew I wasn't available for internships this summer, as I'm flying to China (!) soon, but anyway, I applied for four-five positions. I got responses as well. There are rankings to every student/employee on this site, and I didn't want to be ranked lowly, so I have bookmarked it, to check the notifications. This is the only way for me to get internships, and so, I'm sort of serious on it.

15. Downloads.nl // This little site has almost all the possible songs. If I have to download a song, which I couldn't find anywhere in the music stores, I take the help of this site.

16. shoes // I download ten pictures of shoes, and save them in a 'Shoes' folder on my computer. Later, I upload them on the blog's Facebook page under the album 'Shoes Maniac'.

17. quotes // Same goes with this bookmark; but only the folder's name is 'Quotes' this time, and I upload it under Facebook page's 'Sayings'.

18. summer // Well same thing here. These are the summer outfits, which go by the name 'Outfit Ideas' on the page, and are saved under the album 'Outfits' on my computer.

19. Admission Process // Well this one bookmark I cannot remove from this bar. It has the admission process for MBA. If I change its position away from my eyesight, I might just forget about it. (Crazy, I know!)

Apart from this bookmark bar, there are several other pages that I have bookmarked.

These are some of my favourite bookmarks. I cannot link all of them, but if you want their links, I'll surely post them for you.

This is the continuation.

The reason why I haven't renamed these bookmarks to an appropriate one is because they are hidden (i.e., not seen on the bookmarks bar).

Do you bookmark pages like crazy?

I initially started writing a post on a different topic, but then I didn't have time to edit and upload photos after that. So I quickly clicked photos for a new post--Organizing Snacks.
I always wanted to write a post on this organization.

I went with my mom to shop cups and collect clothes from the laundry. That's when I bought bag-clips.

Here are some basic steps-

ONE // Take open packets of snacks that you'd like to organize.

TWO // Take bag-clips.

THREE // Close the mouths of the opened packets of snacks.

FOUR // Take a big container to keep the snacks in.

FIVE // Place the clipped snacks inside.

You're done! Happy Snacking!

Firstly, let me spell it out: I'm a loyal patron of the brand Jockey. I simply love their products, except for the t-shirts; they're too small for me.

Anyway, I went to a Jockey store to buy two pairs of boxers the other day, and ended up buying this gorgeous maroon coloured capri. I'm not really a capri fan. The pants are either three-fourths that go down till my ankles, or those that end near the calves. I've never liked the capris.

But the capri by Jockey is something that I adore. I have a maroon coloured one, which I wear to the gym, or sometimes wear it in the evening when guests come over.

These are utterly soft, and comfy. They're perfect for gym wear, leisure wear, lounge wear or as pyjamas as well.

If you're thinking of buying pants for gym, then I would recommend these.

I wore them today for gym with my Adidas t-shirt. (I've adjusted levels for this photo, hence the colour of the capri pants has slightly changed.)

What do you wear to gym?

PS. I will post Things To Carry To The Gym soon.

I've changed the positions of few worktop supplies, and I loved the new, updated worktop. The things are more or less the similar like the previous version of worktop essentials, but the positions are changed, which makes the table look different.

This is the overview of the table. (I don't like the orange coloured chair.)

To the right hand side, I've kept three books--my Agenda, Sense and Sensibility novel by Jane Austen, and a Wordbank (sort of a dictionary).
To the right of these books is my pencil-stand. This Hello Kitty pencil stand has a peculiarity; it only has pens and pencils (though the pencil was with mom when I clicked the picture). The other two pencil-stands hold different supplies.

I am excited to sit on the table ever since I have moved these two lovelies. Such a perfect place they have on my table.
Well, speaking of the differentiation of supplies that they hold, the pink pencil-stand has all the thick supplies, and the glassy pencil-stand has all the colour-inked pens.
The pink has the markers, glue, pair of scissors, ruler and a stapler; whereas the glassed one has fine liners from Stic and Faber-Castell sketch-pens.

This is why I stressed on the word peculiarity earlier. These three pencil-stands have different uses.

These pens/supplies are so useful. I never felt so much organized! If at all I have to write someone's number that my mom prompts to me, I can immediately do so. The pen is within stone's throw.

During vacation, I pass my afternoon time either by writing blog or watching movies/One Tree Hill. And if at all my mom is asleep, I have to put on headphones. Instead of getting up each time to take out a pair of headphones from the Easy-To-Access shelf, it is anytime better to keep them near the computer.

Plus the headphones are from HP itself, and they're sleek. My old headphones were thicker and chunkier.

These two chords are always plugged in to the computer. One is the USB chord of my camera, and the other is of my phone.
It is frustrating to search a chord for the camera and then plug it into the computer. I transfer the photos from my camera to the computer, almost every day.
Many times, especially when I write my blog, my cellphone is out of battery. So instead of using a charger, I use the USB.
So these chords are very, very important to be kept here.

One more thing which I couldn't click is my hard-disk. I have kept the hard-disk attached to my computer. Hard-disk is no more an extended drive to me, but an internal, because I need it every day. So I thought of attaching it to the USB port which is on the backside of the computer, to avoid unnecessary space problems.

I have kept the wireless keyboard and mouse in the keyboard-drawer (which was obvious).

Does this picture look like it was taken for Instagram?

Well, apart from the keyboard and mouse, I've kept two other things- the pencil case and a dirty cloth.
As I don't work or go to college in vacation, I have kept the pencil case here. Even the agenda is on the table and not in my bag because I don't go anywhere as such where I would need my agenda. And if at all I have to update or add things in my agenda, I know my pencil case will always be near it.

Your mom always scolds you to clean the computer, but you're too lazy to get up. This is the best idea. I have kept a dirty cloth in the keyboard-drawer. Whenever I feel like the computer needs a bit dusting, I do it with the cloth I have in the drawer. I also wipe away the dust from the keyboard and mouse.

Plus, if you have a cute purple coloured dust-cloth, why would you hesitate to clean your computer?

Below the drawer is my printer. This is an all-in-one. It takes prints, photo copies, and scans as well. It really is my partner in laziness.

Looks bad, but trust me, this CPU compartment is organized. I have kept printing papers and cartridges here. And below that is a tool-box. Of course I don't use the tools; they are my dad's.

How does your computer table look like; somewhat similar to mine?

Finally the Project Paint!

I wanted to buy a new table for my computer. However, after checking the prices, I was taken aback; they were too high. Till date, my parents have always bought the furniture and other high-cost things at home. This was the very first time I was looking out for a table all by myself. But I seriously was surprised. I don't want to buy an expensive table, but a simple and a stylish one. After thinking really hard, I finally came to the conclusion--to improvise and to do a makeover of the table I already had.

This table had three problems then--the nasty doodling of markers on the tabletop, the height, and the faded colour.
I could gulp up the nasty doodles (because it was me who drew them), and I could call the painters to paint the table. But the main problem was the height of the table; the height was troublesome to me.
I could not take the chair towards the keyboard-drawer and keep my legs below it. It gave my back a serious pain, but I had no option. I still had to write assignments, projects and more importantly, my blog, on this computer.

So we thought of a solution which was really (stupid and) simple--We put two paats (planks) below the legs of the table, to give the table a good height.

The last thing that bothered me was the colour on it. I thought it would've been better to paint the table myself, than calling the painters at home. And well that's exactly how the PROJECT PAINT struck me.

Before

This is how the table looked like before PP. And those are the paats (planks).
Well sorry about the 'Rockstar'. (And by the way, this is my computer table.)

After

I wanted to paint the yellow part too, but hadn't decided which colour. Maybe when we will renovate the house, I will ask them to paint my table too.

Before

Again, sorry for the 'Great' and 'Rutuja' here. And no, it isn't 'Great Rutuja'.
This is the shelf in my room which has the Storage-Shelf, Favourite Compartment, Bookshelf and the Easy-to-Access shelf. And coincidentally, all of the shelves have been posted on the blog already.

After

Unfortunately I couldn't erase the two embarrassing words, but anyway, this is the outcome of the Project Paint.

Have you painted/drawn anything on your room?

You must be a taker of 'money' as gifts. And of course, your mom might be giving money as gifts too (especially in marriages).

But apart from the money, the envelope that it comes along with, as a gift, with 'Best Wishes' label on it, is as important as the money.

If you're receiving money, or giving money, do not think that your work is done there. The envelope that holds the money, while giving it, is important as well.
We all have always used those paper envelopes, and haven't really bothered the envelope to be an important part while gifting. That needs to be changed, needn't that?

Well my mom received a cute envelope by her aunt, for bangles. And I'm enthralled by it!

It is purple and golden, the combination that I liked from yesterday's post.

I really liked the small golden ball (which is not a dragon ball) attached to the golden thread.

It looks like this after opening the flap.

How do you like the MONEY envelopes to be like?
xoxo

PS. Sorry for the stupid title name; I swear I couldn't think of anything better.

I zealously wait to get an invitation card every time my relatives call my mom up, and ask her to tell them our postal address. The designs on these cards are so pretty. Nowadays, apart from the pretty designs and colours, the shapes of these cards are mind-blowing as well.
When earlier, people used to give typical styled cards, now you can see amazingly unique ones.

And as you know that we use these cards further to make greetings and related activities on TPCG, I do collect them and keep them inside my favourite pink Strawberry Shortcake Folder.

Here are some of my favourites-

Have you seen a conical shaped card before? Incredible, isn't it? This is my aunt's wedding card.

It looks like this after removing the satin thread. This is one of the uniquest shapes of invitation cards I have ever seen.
(And yes, I'm going for her wedding on the next 10th.)

UPDATE: This wedding card was designed and made by my aunt herself. She is an artist. She designs and makes artworks by the name MEENAL ARTS. A website will be launched soon. So don't copy the design or the shape without her consent.

If you want to make yourself feel like Royalties, then make an old royal styled invitation card for your wedding. I'm so impressed by this style.

'Ma'am and Sir, you are ROYALLY invited to the wedding.' Sounds brilliant.

The card and its envelope are simple, but the design is pretty, and so I liked it.

This card has a wooden feel.

I liked the idea of Lord Ganesh and His eye.

The next up is the scented invitation card. The scented ones are so much in trend. And believe me or not, the fragrance is still intact.
I also liked the golden design on it.

I liked the simplicity of this card. It is just a single paper with a cute shape, and a bow on the left hand side corner.

The colour combination is beautiful -- Purple and Golden.

And it has a thick box like structure. I loved the design too.

This is the UNIQUEST card amongst all. Is it even a card?! Yes, it is!

How pretty it is from the insides! Looks like a Sun.

We just need to pull the golden thread to open this unique envelope.

My nephew's thread ceremony is on the 1st. And I'm definitely going. I liked the texture of the paper, and the cut on the right side of the envelope.

Remember the orange paper of this card? We had used it to write the title on our Expense Book.

Do you collect Invitation Cards?
