The Pretty City Girl | Indian Travel & Lifestyle Blog

After China, this time while coming back from UK as well, I retained all the souvenirs instead of throwing them away. Here, by souvenirs, I don't just mean all the expensive stuff we buy from stores that represents the place we have visited, but also all those things that you got while you were staying in that place.

Now what exactly comes under this? All the bus tickets, train or metro tickets, flight boarding passes, maps, brochures, cards, etc. come under the second category. It might sound funny and stupid, but trust me, when you will look back at all these, I bet they will make you smile. By just seeing them, it will refresh the memories, and you'll feel as if you've traveled back in time.

Sometimes if some of your friends are traveling to the same place, and they want to know about it, you can always go through the stuff you've treasured and share them with your friends. And if at all, say for a project, you have to write about that place, these souvenirs would help you in many ways.

And how much space would these souvenirs take? Of course, it won't take much.
You can put them in a clear case if you wish to organize them. Everything is lot jollier when you organize.

Do you collect souvenirs?

Day 2

We got up at 8:30 (IST or GMT I don't remember). We had to leave for brother's graduation ceremony at 1:00 GMT. I wasn't excited like I usually am, as my hair was a bit oily. Nevertheless, we brushed; and until we were done brushing, my brother had cooked Egg Bhurji and had made tea already. We could see the positive changes in him, and my mom was proud. (I wasn't showing my pride as my mom was chewing out on me for not helping her in household and being too lazy!)

We went upstairs to my brother's room to have breakfast. We closed the door behind us, and sat on the bed, talking. Every time I raised my voice, either to show my excitement over something, or to place my opinions, I was made quiet by my brother and mom. As with us, in other rooms, of course, there were my brother's roommates and one of their parents and brother too, my mom and brother were asking me to talk softly. Talking softly is definitely not my field of expertise.

Anyway, we chatted and frittered away the time till 11:30. After that, one by one, we had bath, which was followed by dressing ourselves up. My brother got a call before he could have bath; he immediately changed and went out to get photo copies of invitation for me and mom. It was almost 1:00 and he wasn't home yet.

Finally he came and he had bath and changed to suit. We immediately left, and it was dreadful to walk hurriedly in a saree. Yes, I had worn a saree for the ceremony; and I felt pretty in it. Our taxi was soon there, and we got in, and drove towards Rochester Castle. We got off the taxi, and while we were sitting on a bench, my brother went to take the gown. He returned wearing it.

Before the ceremony began, we clicked pictures near the castle. Surprisingly, everybody was looking at us due to the saree. My classmate had told me that they stared at women wearing sarees as it is something unique for them. (Probably that's the reason why I changed my mind from a formal dress to a saree.) I really loved the photographs that were clicked today.

Then in some time, we went inside the castle, which was an impeccably marvelous place. We settled down. My brother was sitting with other to-be graduates; he was made to sit like that by the university.

The ceremony began with a small speech by someone from the university, which was followed by a grand procession, where the Chancellor of his university, along with few other important men and women of the uni walked royally towards the stage. After three really long speeches by the important people of his uni, finally, the calling out of the names began.

In my mind, I was thinking hard on how to cheer after my brother goes up on the stage. I thought "C'mon betix! Wohoo" would've been perfect. (Oh by the way, both of my brother and I call each other 'betix'.) First they called out PhD holders, then the post graduates, and finally the graduates. It took lot of time. With every new category of course, my heart was beating faster.
Actually, I was scared of saying those motivational words out loudly in a passive crowd like that. Few of them were cheering like I had planned; but none of them were Indians; also, they were in large numbers, whereas, I was the lonely person to scream those words loudly.

So when they announced Mechanical Engineering course, I got up from my seat, and stood near a pillar. I kept my camera ready, along with settings and perfect frame. I was going to shoot a video, instead of pictures. As the students started going on the stage, I started the recording. Within few minutes, they called out my brother's name, and I ACTUALLY screamed what I had decided. I screamed so loudly that people started looking at me with a wide smile. You guys won't believe, but I was shivering before putting out the words. It was terrific.

My brother waved at me from the stage, after he shook hands with one of the important men. When I sat back on my seat, my mother scolded me for shaking the camera while shooting. The important handshake was sadly missed by me. I knew this would happen. I was gathering all my courage for my brother, so that he feels confident and cool on the stage. I preferred boosting his morale than shooting a good video with just a smile on my face with a soft wohoo.

Anyway, soon after all the names were called out, the ceremony ended. We later went under the shamiana for a refreshing drink. Others were celebrating on wine, whereas we had a glass full of orange juice. Soon we went home. We had planned to roam in Gillingham and Chatham.

We changed; I wore lavender colored Nike tee, blue Levi's Signature shorts, black Converse shoes, black Ray-Ban aviators, and black coloured studded skull sling bag. I finished my look with a messy hair bun. We went to my brother's university and clicked lot of pictures. We returned home till 8:00. We were crazily exhausted as his uni was forty-five minutes away from his house. We were extremely tired, and I felt like I should bang my legs on something--they were paining badly.

After reaching home, we ordered Indian meal from Lahori Kalahi Kitchen (or something) restaurant. They took more than an hour for the delivery, and we were damn hungry. Soon the parcel came, and we hogged on it. We later packed our bags as my brother was leaving the house with us next day itself. Imagine...we had to pack every single item of his room. (Of course, except the bed, table, chair, and closet!)

We soon slept under a quilt.

I am feeling so good to go back to the Day 1, as I am home in India now. I reached home at around 2:30 PM IST. I am missing England and Scotland excessively; and I felt at some point of time, that I shouldn't come back. However, you know...

So Day 1, though I spent more than half of it in the plane itself, still I am going to write about it; because trust me, airport stories are interesting.

We were not satisfied with the packing, as we did not have enough time. Right after returning from China, after a week's clean-up work, we started applying for UK visas. We were a bit positive about getting the visas; however, things went badly ahead. Our travel agents took a long time to fill the forms and submit them.

After finishing the complete forms on the 17th of June, they finally submitted them to the UK Visa office on the 5th of July! We got the application submission date, which was 7th July. We went there, and they told us that we would get our visas in 15 working days! God damn it; we were scared. Our flight was on the 22nd, and the 21st was the 10th day. We were praying hard. We had to go there, not for UK, but for my brother, who wanted us there eagerly. We almost cried on hearing that the possibility of getting the visas was so low.

Days passed by, and the 22nd July was nearing. We had decided to go to the visa office on the 21st, in case the visas were there. However, when I was going to a mall on the 17th, to shop for the top for the hopeful graduation ceremony, I got a call from the visa office saying the visas were there, and that we could go collect them any time between 2 PM and 6 PM.

After shopping for the top (which is a pretty, white Vero Moda sleeveless one), I rushed home. I changed my clothes, and off we went. It was raining heavily. We had decided to tell this news to everyone after we reached home safely, with both the visas in hand. Soon, we did return, safely and happily, WITH the visas.

We just had four days to pack, and I was going crazy about the outfit to wear during the ceremony. Finally, I decided, and we packed.

Day 1

My alarm was of 6:30; however, I got up thirty minutes prior to the alarm. I was hoping that my skin looked fair and fresh, and my hair looked good and silky. I looked in the mirror, and my face was acceptable. Hair, however, weren't their best. We got ready, and a cab was waiting for us, half-hour before the decided time. The driver asked us to go down early, as the earlier we go, the lesser the traffic.

We went down. Bringing two luggage bags down the stairs was a tough task. Panting, we walked towards the cab. We started off, and reached Terminal 2, Mumbai. After all the check-in, immigration, and security-check, we roamed about on the airport.

After the flight journey, while we were landing at Heathrow, London, we could not believe we were reaching London. Never in my dreams had I thought I could go to UK so soon. Nevertheless, all due to dad's impossible acquirement of visa from China, and brother's ceremony, we could go.

We landed, and constantly I was reminding myself that I was in UK. After getting down the flight, we followed people towards immigration. People who had already visited London had warned me about this. They said that the persons appointed would ask questions; and if they do not like the answers, they could send you back to India.
We had been given immigration forms in the flight, and we had filled the form incompletely. We did not know answers to few questions, and so we decided to leave them blank, and ask the immigration man/woman later. However, when we approached the counter, the man rudely told us to finish the form. I told him we had doubts. We finished completing the forms, and stood in the queue. The woman called us, and we were asked to go to a counter where a man from West Indies was sitting.

When the first man rudely scolded us to fill the form, frankly, my morale was crushed; and as there were jacket, two handbags, and one duffle bag, it was difficult to write. Anyway, the confidence boosted up immediately after we met the West Indian man: he asked me details about myself, as in, which course I was studying, high school or university, etc. Later, after reading the passport, he exclaimed, "Oh! You are from Pune. So you must be supporting Pune Warriors!" Mom and I stood still, and then replied with a wide smile that we were supporting Mumbai Indians. After asking him about his favourite teams, he said he supported RCB (for Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli), and after that, CSK (for Dhoni and Bravo). Literally, the immigration had turned into an interesting IPL discussion panel. We were delighted!

After the immigration, we waited for our bags, which came early. We stood near the Arrivals of Heathrow's Terminal 4, and waited for my brother, who was coming to pick us up. Somehow, standing there, I was not confident. As it was a new place, I was checking people out. (Rather, for first three days, I was checking people out.) I texted my brother, wasting Rs. 10, and just when I pressed the send button, he was there--dressed in black t-shirt and jeans, with a heavy backpack on his shoulder. I hugged him excitedly. I was confident now, as my brother was there.

We came outside, and it was brilliant. Though Terminal 4 was not awesome, the outside ambiance was cool and pleasant. While waiting for our taxi, we clicked a selfie, which marked the beginning of our crazy pictures in UK. Our taxi was here; it was a black Mercedes. Black Mercedes are typical taxis for five star hotels in India; and I was sitting in one. Well, I guess we did not know a Mercedes was coming to pick us up. We just called Speedy Taxis, and they sent us a Merc.

Anyway, we left for Gillingham, where my brother stayed. We went through London, Chelsea, etc., and I could not believe I had just passed Chelsea! I was waiting for the second day from today, for a visit to the EMIRATES! On our way, though we tried our best to keep our eyelids open and look at the beautiful Great Britain, we dozed off, though for fifteen minutes, we did doze off.

After reaching hotel, we learnt that the booking of the hotel room was mistakenly done on the 22nd of JUNE, instead of JULY. Imagine what would have happened then. The lady--stupid, clumsy person--booked on a wrong date, and we were helpless. As my brother was in UK for two years, he exactly knew how to handle the British.  He kept his cool, and maintained the newly acquired British accent until the end of the conversation. But, sadly, the lady told us that none of the rooms in the hotel were vacant--"absolutely none of them".

We left the hotel, and just then, my brother saw his Pakistani colleague's car parked in the parking area. He called him. He came, we drove to four hotels, and coincidentally, all of them were fully occupied. Finally, we decided to stay at my brother's rented house.

We reached, and it looked beautiful from outside. The insides weren't really outstanding. We reached to his room in the house, and changed to comfortable clothes. We had few theplas, which we had carried from India, as dinner. Then after discussing about tomorrow's ceremony, we dozed off. It was 11:30 in UK, and we were excited for tomorrow's graduation ceremony.

Well, hello! I am in Edinburgh, Scotland currently, and there is free Wi-Fi in this room. I might write UK diaries once I am back in India, as right now I am in a different mood, and not in a state to go back to Day 1 and write.

Scotland is as amazing as England, and I'm madly in love with the architecture here. Just marvelous. Needless to say, but UK (at least England and Scotland) is necessary visit!

Currently it is 10 PM GMT here, and we are relaxing back at our hotel rooms. As there is no AC or fans here, surprisingly we are feeling hot.
Anyway, today we had been to other city via ScotRail to Glasgow. In addition, fortunately, there were Common Wealth games there, so the atmosphere was happening and sporty.

Anyway, I'll see you people soon. Tomorrow we have a trip to the mountain-side of Edinburgh, and for that, we have to get up at 5:30. It is going to be super awesome tomorrow. Oh, and directly, after the tour, we are leaving for London at night. Therefore, it is going to be a tiresome day.

See you all soon. I promise I will be back with a bang. Goodnight.

Frankly, I do not have time to write a big post. Tomorrow morning at 8, we will leave house for airport. I'm done with packing; however, the last minute packing (like putting chargers in bag, food, etc.) is still left.

This pen is four months old: We had gifted it to one of our best friends on her 20th birthday. Actually it is our new rule to not get gifts for anyone; but as I knew how much she loved my Parker pen, I insisted to buy her a new pen just like mine.

I had clicked photos on her birthday before gifting her pen. I knew I would post it on TPCG someday.

This pen costs Rs. 150 (I reckon so). I hope she doesn't read the price! We purchased red coloured polka dots because red is her favourite colour.

Do you like using fancy pens?

OK, let the cat come out of the bag--I am going UK day after tomorrow!! I am more than excited! I'm planning outfits, packing clothes, writing a list of tasks to do, and finally, cleaning myself up, for almost a week (but still I feel like I've got loads and loads to do!).

I don't know where to start from. I feel as if I am showing my true happiness here. For once, I'm not feeling big-headed, and I'm not feeling guilty (as if I'm boasting). I'm just writing here to tell you guys that I will fly to UK soon, and that, I wanted to release the happiness that was stuck inside of me, for all this while.

Anyway, I'm undergoing few tricks to know what is left to pack, things to buy, things to pack, tasks to do, and the outfits for the seven days I will be in UK.

I've made three lists--Tasks To Do, Outfits To Wear, and Things To Pack. I try my best to strike through or tick the things accomplished. I've got heaps of work left (inclusive of charging gadgets!).

My brother, who has completed his engineering successfully, has his graduation ceremony on the 23rd. As my father could not go to UK from China, my mom and I have to go.
I'll try my best to write a UK Diary like I did when I was in China (with the name The China Diaries), a month back.

I'm going to carry a mélange of warm and cool clothes, but with a weird 1:9 ratio. I'm going to wear New Look leather jacket, black handbag from China, Converse canvas shoes, and pink United Colors of Benetton polo t-shirt while flying to UK. You can also say, a mélange of feminine and masculine clothes (ha ha!).

While coming back, I might wear grey three-forth leggings, a pair of Converse canvas shoes, New Look leather jacket, fluorescent orange t-shirt from China, and a black handbag (again from China).

We are planning to roam in my brother's hostel's local area, and also in London, Edinburgh, and Glasgow.

Tomorrow will be the last day of packing (of course), as my flight is day after, in the morning. I'll try my best to write, and if not write, at least post wacky pictures on Instagram.

Till then, goodnight! (I'm really hoping this shouldn't be the last day till I'm back.)

Yesterday after my best friend showed me her super awesome way to organize receipts, I was impressed; I'd thought of writing a post yesterday itself, but then wrote about her expense book.

In case you didn't read yesterday's post, here's the link to it--http://theprettycitygirl.blogspot.in/2014/07/expense-book-readers-post.html
And in case you're lazy to open the link and read, let me tell you--this is the back side of my best friend's Expense Book's back cover. She has beautifully made two pockets, and have different uses for both of them.

In this pocket, she keeps her withdrawal receipts. She says it isn't necessary to collect the receipts, but she does so, in order to see how much she spends in a particular semester, while she is away from home, at hostel.

As soon as her semester was over, she stapled the receipts together. She numbered the receipts.

Later, she put the same number next to the 'Withdraw' inside her sheets. So every time she has to refer money, the bank, the time, etc., she can easily do so because of this fun method.

Also, she has written 'WITHDRAW: 200' in blue, so that she can glance at the year's withdrawals dexterously.

Behind the last withdrawal's receipt, she has written down the total sum withdrawn for her fourth semester. Now she is waiting for her new semester to end, so that she can compare her expenses.

Do you collect withdrawal receipts for reference?

My best friend had come over today. Actually my group from school was meeting today; but as others had their colleges, they couldn't make it. And one of the friends from the group is going back to Karnataka for her education on this Sunday, so it was a must meeting her.

When she's at my place, my room seems like a stationary and clothes' store. I will show her all the cute stationary items like books, pens, clips, stick-notes, etc. that I've purchased lately, and we both will drool over them together. However, my room seems lesser like a clothes' store as she seldom try on my clothes; she tries them only if she has decided to pose for pictures. Whatever it is, it is fun. I always share a differnet kind of happiness with her.

When I go at her place, it is all makeup, hair, jewellery, photographs and clothes. She loves putting on makeup on others. So every time I'm at her home, she gets a model for herself to try on as much makeup as she likes. So my face becomes a canvas for her. I never say no to her for any makeup product, or any style of makeup. Also, I allow her to play with my hair.

Love it! And most importantly, she is just like me when it comes to creating things. She's made an expense book, and had brought it home today-

Her Expense Book. This cover indicates 'Day'.

It is as long as a long ruler...

...in fact, longer than a long ruler.

Loved the way she's written 'Expense Book', with a tree-like X.

The rabbit is pretty cute too.

The back cover indicates the 'night'.

Her inside pages are interesting. As she stays in a hostel there, her expense book makes lot of sense.

She has used stick notes for months' names.

The 'balance left' system is pretty useful.

The best part of the book is the back side of the back cover page--She has made two pockets, and have written 'Insert Bills Here' and 'Insert Paper Here' on them.

Here, she keeps all the important bills and receipts of things she has purchased. She has stuck a dried petal on the pocket.

'Paper', in the context, refers to withdrawal receipts. She has organized them amazingly; I'll post about them soon. She has stuck a dried leaf on the pocket.

I've loved her idea of day and night, inside pages, and the pockets! Such creative.

Have you started keeping a track of your expenses yet?

So today, surprisingly, I thought of reflecting upon virtual internships. I am willing to work, but I am not willing to go at places for work. I am in no mood for traveling to workplaces for internship. I would anyway love to do a virtual one.
Though I know I have lots of assignments and blog-work to do, I can manage; rather, I will have to manage. I've applied for five companies, and hoping for something miraculous to happen.

I'm willing to submit articles and get paid. This time I'm looking for internships that will pay me.

Anyway, you need to be extremely careful before applying for job or internship; mostly internship, because you're still a childish adult at this time. Of course, you might be a mature person, but still, be very, very careful.

Today while applying for a virtual internship, thankfully I checked for the employer's information along with job requirements (which I do normally). Had I not gone through employer's details before applying, today, I would've ended up in a mess.
All the other four companies were totally fine, but the fifth one was a pornographic blog! Thankfully I checked their details; else I was surely driving a bus to hell. It would've not only degraded my work profile (on applying for this company), but would've ended me down in a total chaos as well.

I obviously know if the website/blog is legal, it is totally okay; and seriously it is okay; but I would've never wanted to work for such a site...hey, don't judge me here.
I'm not cool with working at any firm at this stage, because I need stability and would want to remain under lock and key.

So please guys, it is a request; do go through employer's details before foolishly applying for internships and jobs. Not just because the employer might be a pornographic website or an illegal one, but also because the employer would not be exactly like you wanted or thought him to be.

Have you ever come across a company that you would've never worked for?

Most often, students forget the dates for assignments; partly because they're less of importance than the projects, and partly because the students don't have a correct way to remember them.

I just did this thing few days ago when our professor had asked us to write a feature story from a news report that we had written ourselves, in class. Some things are so important than the others that we need to write them anywhere but in the insides of our books.

This is the first page of my new Paperisto 5 subject notebook that I'm totally lovesick for, lately. I've attached maps for the subject Journalism and Public Opinion by a u-pin. So I thought of attaching my timetable as well. (It is my classmate's handwriting, and not mine.)

After closing the book, I noticed that there was the back side of the u-pin, right on the cover page of my notebook. And as I was copying notes from rough books to this book, I had to remember about this assignment anyhow, as it was a possibility of me forgetting it in a mess.

So I attached a paper (which I use as index cards) as a reminder. Trust me; every time I take out my book, I remember to complete the assignment.
I love this trick.

Apart from that, you can write the due date below the reminder too.

You can keep some space for writing more important assignments from other subjects' professors maybe. And once you're done with the task, you can just turn the paper, and re-use it; and once both the sides are occupied, you can just throw away the paper, and use a new one.

You can even use this method on your diaries and agendas when you have to remember some tasks terribly more than others.

How do you remember important assignments?

Actually I had to write this assignment on a paper, and not type it on computer; but just for TPCG's sake, I typed it, and then might copy it down on a piece of A4 project paper, depending on the time I have. Without further delay, let me just post it here--

Mumbai Metro has crossed the mark of one crore passengers in merely a month: few of them travelled for work, and others travelled on it in order to experience the new journey altogether. Moreover, as the metro is nowhere but in ‘Amchi Mumbai’, people are willing to experience it with a sense of pride and belongingness.

Lately, Ghatkopar station is seen overcrowded; there are local-train travellers, plus the travellers for Ghatkopar metro station who rush hitherto and thitherto, making chaos on the main station. The travellers for metro have a bewildered look on their faces, along with excitement, as they are keen to try ‘their’ metro.

However, once you enter the station, especially near the ticket counter, you automatically develop a sense of strangeness, just as non-Mumbaikars develop after travelling on local-trains. As we are not accustomed with such infrastructure, we feel lost to the nth degree. Nevertheless, this feeling does not last long.

The vibes of escalators on metro station are like a stairway to heaven; and the metro is, by all means, a heaven. One of the best things about metro is air conditioner; it is perfect for Mumbai’s hot and humid climate. Another good thing is the automation of doors.

Every train journey has few stations that are overcrowded. Even in Mumbai Metro, Andheri and Saki Naka are overly crowded. The overall appearance of metro’s interiors is on the up and up: good fragrance, better seats, indicators for next station and the journey, seat reservation for elderly, women, and disabled, and moreover, a decent crowd who does not gawk at women.

On a metro, unknowingly, every passenger appears to be from a well-to-do family; there is no indecency. Travelling on metro is like riding a plane for Mumbai Darshan; we can come across different places of Mumbai from a good height.

As the Central line connects with the Western, people have found it immensely useful and are delighted every morning while travelling on metro. In addition, there is negligence of unnecessary rush. As Ghatkopar railway station connects with the metro station, one of the best uses could be the Airport Road station: people travelling to Airport can cut down their expenses, by using the metro, at some extent.

Along with that, free Reliance Wi-Fi on the stations, modern technology used, and sophisticated look of the stations, metro is indeed a perfect journey. Per contra, air conditioner outside metro would have been appreciated largely.

In addition, with the indicators telling us which side the station would show up is a cherry on top of the cake; with it, we would not need to ask, “Station kaunse side ayega? (Which side would the station arrive?),” to fellow passengers.

Thus, metro journey could be an enjoyable experience, even with the company of no one—one can listen to music, watch movies, or simply be proud of the new development in Mumbai while you travel on the much-needed metro.

Mumbaikars, however, are waiting for a new Metro line, especially in the Central Railway, and are hoping there could be one in the future.

The feature was supposed to be of 500 words; however, I've written of 512 words. I hope you guys like it.
Cheers!

Like I'd written here earlier that I was writing in my old school notebooks for college, and how clumsy I felt about it, I desperately needed to do something about it.

In India, it is difficult to find a stationary item with perfect qualities. We have to roam everywhere, seeking the best product that would satisfy us completely. Well, at least I do. I'm a lunatic when it comes to stationary. And it drives me nuts to not get the perfect product.

I searched in every shop, and in every mall's stationary store; but I couldn't find a nice notebook for college. A notebook shouldn't be overpriced. Of course, there were good books that I came across, but they were irrationally overpriced. Well I could have bought them, to satisfy my stationary desire, but it wasn't worth it--if it was overpriced and wasn't perfectly designed according to my needs, then what's the use of buying it? If I have to buy an overpriced book because of its lovely cover, I must see if it has as many pages as I want and that it is perfect enough.

After the search, I simply gave up. When home the other day, I searched for notebooks online. I really liked these two books by PAPERISTO on Snapdeal.com, and I made a purchase immediately. You guys have no idea how zealously I was waiting for them. Every time the doorbell rang, I used to hurry to open the door.

Finally, today when I wasn't home, they delivered the parcel home to my mom. I was with my best friends as it was one of my friends birthday. I couldn't, I swear, I couldn't wait to go home to see the books.

As soon as I opened the parcel, I was surprised to see four books! The two books that I thought I had purchased were in sets of two. So I actually paid for two books, and I got four books!
(The disappointment was seeing the 5 subject notebooks to be smaller than the usual A5 size.)

Long Spiral
I am madly in love with its cover page. As you know, a cover page can do many tricks, sometimes even without caring if it is of our use or no.
I am lovesick right now.

It has 132 pages and is for Rs. 55.

It is single ruled.

Unlike other spiral bound notebooks, this one has blue coloured wires, instead of white.

5 Subject Notebooks
I had mistaken them to be long books; but it isn't a big deal. As this is small, it will fit perfectly in my bag, plus it won't be heavy.
I have started using the one with pink stripe already.
(I'll post on TPCG soon on using this notebook.)

Each book has 240 pages and costs Rs. 60.

This book has purple coloured wires; how cool is that!

The inside pages have a place for writing Topic and Index; and I've used them correctly.

The colours of the dividers are so pretty (except for green). The colours are slightly different in real; they just appear this gaudy in pictures.
The colours are Hot Pink, Peach (yes, peach; it doesn't seem so in the picture, but it is peach), Green, and Sky Blue.

Which notebooks are you using for college this semester?

Today while coming back from college, I met an interesting girl in the local train. She was not a definition of the elite or the mannered class of society; rather, she wasn't even close to it. People would've thought her to be of lower class; but for me, she was a middle-lower, and had the etiquette just like the elite.

She was in one of those typical low-quality t-shirts, with low-quality coloured jeans. She had a small, not-so-good bag hung upon her arms, and wasn't really appealing.

She was having chips from a packet, and was standing elegantly, resting her back near the local's door. Though her clothes and her getup was nothing but classy, I found her to be a graceful, young lady.

After snacking on the last chip, I thought she might throw the empty pack outside the train (just like most of the people do). I guess I was stereotyping her. To my surprise, she neatly folded the empty pack of chips, and kept it inside the tiny purse of hers. I was taken aback. I'd thought I was the only one who folded her trash and kept it neatly inside her bag. But I was happy to find myself a company here.

Well, after keeping inside the folded packet, she removed a handkerchief from her purse, and elegantly and calmly, she wiped off the food particles that had clung on her hands, and swept off the oil, from the chips, off her hands. Then she kept back the hanky inside the purse, and hung back the purse between her right wrist and arm.

I was impressed. I was totally, utterly impressed. How, just how could a girl like her do something like that? How could someone not throw garbage outside? And how could someone like her just be so polished?

I couldn't help but smile looking at her. Great civility, I must say!
I still can recollect her exquisite posture and her sumptuous actions. Bravo!

I've got an abrupt liking towards tights/leggings. Yesterday and day before, after searching insanely, I finally found the right pairs of leggings.

But the evolution of leggings to tights and ankle-length to three-forth was interesting as well as hilarious:

Day before yesterday, I began a spree of searching 'leggings'. Initially, for the whole evening, I searched the stores that sold traditional Indian wear. After asking them whether they had "ankle-length leggings", few of the stores would say "yes, which colour you need?" and few of them would say, "no", and show really horrible alternatives for ankle-length leggings.

Most of the stores said a straight no. I walked a lot, and with me I had my neighbour and her mom, and a best friend. So imagine how irritating it was to ask them to wait on every potential store I saw.

In a while, I came across a shop with good leggings, but the cost was Rs. 499; and no way was I buying something like this for Rs. 499. I've learnt a lot about smart-shopping recently, and I thought it was a bad idea.

Then gradually, I realized that I might get leggings in lingerie store, and not in traditional Indian stores. So I decided that the next day (that is yesterday), I would try lingerie shops.

Then after roaming on the streets for three hours, it was 8:30, and hence I decided to retreat back.

The next day was full of hopes. I wanted to buy leggings anyhow, because I had started dreaming and imagining outfits coupled with it already.
After college, I went to a mall nearby to check out leggings in the fashionable departmental stores like Reliance Trends, Lifestyle, and Splash (not a departmental store).

I liked leggings in Reliance Trends, and I was delighted to see a 'Flat Rs. 199' board near the leggings. So I happily took them for check-out. The attendee over the counter warned me saying, "Ma'am, there is no discount on it." I asked him to check again, and he repeated that there was no discount.

The smart-shopping mentality that I had recently learnt rebelled inside of me, and I rejected buying from Reliance Trends as the price was Rs. 399. The 'Flat Rs. 199' was for the t-shirts which were right next to the leggings.
Sighed, I went on for other stores in the mall, but to no success.

But the best part of trying out leggings there was the fact that the ankle-length leggings were too long for a short girl like me, and I tried 'three-forth' leggings, which looked almost like 'ankle-length'.

Then in the evening, I still was confident enough to try my luck at local lingerie stores. I knew I had to search for three-forth leggings instead of ankle-length. Initially I began asking 'leggings' to the shopkeepers. Then after few shops, I realized that the lingerie stores called them 'tights' and not leggings.

I began asking 'three-forth tights' in all the shops after the realization. Most of the shops did not have the colours I wanted--navy blue and dark grey.
But soon I found the perfect pairs of tights: navy blue and dark grey, each for Rs. 240, and fitted me perfectly.

As I couldn't control myself from wearing it as soon as it was possible, I paired the navy blue tights with a green kurta, beige coloured bellies with a traditional navy blue coloured cotton tote.

I just cannot wait to try the dark grey leggings on western tops!

How do you like your leggings?
xoxo
