The Pretty City Girl | Indian Travel & Lifestyle Blog

Oh my God. I've been seeing almost 95% of the ladies having rough hair lately. Standing in the local train, waiting for the station to arrive, I have no other task to do except check out women's hair. To my surprise, almost every woman had rough hair, mostly rough ends. I am waiting to write a post on this for a long, long time.

The best way to have smooth and silky hair in winter is only one thing--conditioner. You can either use the regular conditioner, deep condition, apply serum, or any mousse. But it is very essential. You have to apply conditioner to your mane in order to regain the lost moisture.

Apply moisturizer to the length of your hair, starting from the hair strands below your ear line. Also, don't forget to apply more at the tips, as they are the most dried part of your hair. If they still appear to look dry even after you condition and wash your hair, you need to chop them. Perhaps, you have not visited the salon for a long time.

Even if you have oily scalp like me, conditioners work wonders for such scalp types. So do not hesitate, go and buy a sachet, try it, and then tell me the difference.

Till then, goodnight and happy winter!

I know, nothing can be better than a good diet, lots of water, and lip balm for soft and smooth lips. You eat well, drink good amount of water, but lip balm? Do you apply lip balm at home? And if it is in your drawer, what if you have dry lips outside?

That's exactly what I am going to tell you today.

Even I had the same problem. I am not a lip balm user, but this year, I have started using it. My lips dry out and it seriously appears too unhealthy. I have to wet my lips, which is even more annoying. (And you must be knowing that wetting your lips makes your lips to chap more.)

I am so uninterested in any lip product. I am interested, but just to look at them, or I love to brag about them whenever I use them. But I don't have real feelings. If I don't have lip balm at my hand, I am sure shot going to skip applying it.

So now what do I do? The solution-- I have purchased two lip balms of the same brand. I keep one in my handbag and one at my home. This makes me have a lip balm right at my hand. I feel relieved after applying it.
I am sure your lip balm doesn't cost Rs. 500! You definitely can afford two balms at one time.

This trick will give you a pair of soft, luscious puckers every time! And yes, you can thank me later, girl!

What's your secret tip for soft lips?

I don't believe that I'm writing here after three days. Two days back, I was not in the mood to write. I did not have a perfect topic to write on, so I thought of skipping that day. Day before yesterday, I had been to Pune and returned back on the same day, I couldn't write. I got home at 10:00 at night, so obviously I could not write. And yesterday, I had been to Indian Merchants' Chamber, Churchgate, to attend a seminar by Hindustan Samachar. It was about the Jammu and Kashmir issue, and the speaker was Arun Kumar. After the seminar, I reached home at 10:15, which was really shocking. You know I don't stay out of home for so late. The seminar was informational and the dinner that followed it was crazily yummy!

Today I had made it a point--come what may, I will write TPCG. That's when I thought of devoting an entire evening to myself.

I started off by cleaning my bed, which was sort of messy, as two days I had been out, and so I was just transferring the stuff from chair to bed, and then back to chair from the bed. I cleaned it thoroughly (except the PC table). I sat down to complete two days' notes that were pending as I had taken leave due to sickness on the 20th and 21st of this month. The notes are plenty, and few of the subjects' notes are yet to be completed!

After that, my brother asked me to make coffee, which I refused. He made it himself. In a while, he asked for maggi and I made it, because I was equally hungry. But while the maggi was boiling in the oven, the doorbell rang, and it was my mom! She had gone down to buy veggies, fruits, and grocery. She scolded me to make maggi so late, as it was around 7:00, and the dinner would soon be prepared. But I explained her how hungry we were.

And then the process of book completion was on. Later my mom taught me how to put idli mixture into the idli mould cooker. It is simple, but needs patience.

Finally, as the second lot of idlis are in the cooker, I am writing this post. I am happy that today I rejected doing anything other than the tasks assigned to me...by myself.

You should really take some time off for yourself. You can simply do anything--visit a salon and groom yourself (your eyebrows are worsening and you need to hit that salon!), read a book, listen to relaxing music (you can listen it on YouTube), play with your pets (they're dying for your love), play (or fight) with your siblings, write a diary, sing aloud, cook (or bake), treat yourself a delicious chocolate pastry, or just lie down and close your eyes.

You need to give some time to yourself...

Do you devote a day to yourself? What do you do?

I feel blessed to have Microsoft OneNote in my life. My life is sorted due to it. We can sync OneNote on any device like Windows PCs, Mac PCs, Tablets, Windows Phones, iPhones and on Android phones. For example, all the stuff I write in OneNote gets synced, and I can find that stuff in my PC, my tab, my cellphone, and also on the online OneDrive (Microsoft's cloud service) in a web version. And the best part is that we can even figure out from which device we have added stuff. (I'll show this to you in today's post.)

I seriously suggest you to download this amazing app.

I have OneNote 2013 on my tab. 2013 is much better than 2010.

This is how the screen looks like after opening OneNote on my tab.

In the ribbon above, you will find some colourful options.

These are the regular menu buttons.

I really love these tabs! I love their colours more. I have made tabs for Blog, Turtles, Books-Movies-Music, Passwords, Life, Shopping, Style, Travel, Recipes (Health), To do, Education, and Miscellaneous. I have tried connecting the tabs with the colours; for example, for Turtles, I have used Green, for Life, I have used Pink, for To do, I have used Yellow, and so on. We also have the option to change the colour of the tab, add a new tab, and also rename the tab, or delete the tab.

Another interesting and useful thing is the password protection. You can protect a tab too!

We can also search through all the pages, notebooks, and tabs.

And guess what? You can even add more notebooks. You can change their colour, and also rename them. Fun, yeah?

Every tab has pages. You can put as many pages as you like.

These are the tags. You can put any of these for special notes. I really love these tags! Plus, you can also add or make new tags and give them icons.

We can also set templates for the page. We can add colour to the page...

...or also put different themes or to-dos and planner pages.

This is the template for a Business Meeting. There are many such fun templates.

We can also add screen shots directly from this option.

You can even expand the page into a full screen. And you will get options to choose any page (shown in the above picture).

The Draw menu has some fun options. As this is a tablet, it is amazing to draw or doodle.

After you sync on a different device, you will get that particular tab in bold letters. We need to check for the changes, right-click on the tab, and select 'Mark as Read' in order to undo the bold effect.

Also, you get such initials indicating from which device the stuff has been added. It is a great way to know who has changed what.

Apart from the things above, you can even share notebooks, or save them offline.

Are you using OneNote yet?

Today in college, while I was sitting with my classmates, before the viva, even my Advertising class's best friend had joined us till the examiner came. That time she showed me her six subject notebook, and I was in awe.

Isn't it amazing? Firstly, more than the legends, I loved the cartoons. I loved how all the legendary people have been drawn into cartoons, which are amazingly cute.

Also, the colours inside are fun.

This is the back side. The back side reveals all the people. Also, if you can see, my best friend has stuck silver tape to the borders!

On the inside front cover and inside back cover, they have given a brief information about the persons.

And how amazing are the dividers?!

The book has 300 pages and costs just Rs. 110. It's a good deal. If you really respect these people, and also like funny cartoons, I recommend you to buy it. You get inspiration and bright colours at just Rs. 110.

Which books are you using this semester?

Right from Hollywood, Sports Players to Bollywood stars...this is a list of celebs I'm following on Instagram.
I don't necessarily like all these celebs. I follow them for different purposes--few of them for their style, few for their selection of photos, few because they're really hot, and remaining few because I really like them.

1. Alessandra Ambrosio | Model | alessandraambrosio

2. Rhea Kapoor | Producer | rheakapoor

3. Neha Dhupia | Bollywood Actress | nehadhupia

4. Izabelle Leite | Model, Bollywood Actress | xoizaleite

5. Rohit Sharma | Cricketer | rohitsharma45

6. Jennifer Kotwal | TV, Bollywood Actress | jenniferkotwal

7. Lucas Podolski | Footballer | poldi_official

8. Aaron Ramsey | Footballer | aaronramsey

I have started following many of these celebs just today. So I might unfollow them if I dislike their photo selection. Therefore, this is the list as dated on 14.11.2014, and it might change any day.

Last to last day, I had promised mom that I would make pizza for dinner. However, as I had a best friend's birthday meet that night, I couldn't make. So I postponed it to the next day.

Ah! The pizzas were delicious. Of course I made them. I added all the ingredients, along with some love.

I'm sure many of you must know better recipes for the toppings than me, but anyway, I would love to share my recipe on TPCG-

Ingredients-

  • Pizza Base
  •  Tomatoes
  • Onions
  • Capsicum
  • Mozzarella/Pizza Cheese
  • Pav Bhaji masala
  • Salt
  • Tomato Ketchup
  • Butter
  • Garlic
  • Oil

Steps-

  1. Chop onions vertically. Add them to a vessel containing oil. Fry them until they get brownish.
  2.  Chop tomatoes and capsicum, and add them to the vessel.
  3. Add salt and pav bhaji masala. Fry the mixture until it looks cooked. Taste it, and add salt or masala, if needed.
  4. In a small bowl, fry ketchup and garlic. Take care to keep the gas on the minimum number to avoid flames from the bowl!
  5. On a pizza base, spread butter.
  6. Spread the ketchup+garlic mixture evenly, thus not ignoring the ends of the base.
  7. Spread the topping evenly.
  8. Add mozzarella cheese to it.
  9. Keep the pizza on microwave's high rack.
  10. Grill the pizza for four and half minutes.
  11. Cut it into eight parts, and hog onto it!!

What's your pizza recipe?
xoxo

P.S. Sorry for not writing yesterday; I was busy making pizza.

I've learnt this simple yet great trick to maintain expenses and keep the pocket money in check. Often, in spite of traveling to college and back home, my pocket money gets exhausted before month-end. This mysterious disappearance of my pocket money before the end was very annoying. I wanted an increment as I would be penniless towards the end. But when my mom asked how the pocket money got over so soon, I was speechless. I gave her few reasons like auto and canteen food (and also pizzas, McDs, etc.), but that did not suffice. It was as if I was lying. That's when I thought I should note down the expenses to know where did the money go exactly. I was surprised to see that the maximum money was spent on auto drives!

So from last month, I got an increment, and I am damn happy. I also will try saving from next month.

To manage the expenses, you just need a book and a pen! (The fancier the book, the funner it is to manage!)

I chose this book (a single-ruled spiral bound book) for this task. The decision was totally random, and I did not think about it. I just picked this out, and thought it to be a perfect book for expense. I used to keep this book in my secret box.

Write the month's name before you start managing. Next to it, write the amounts of money you had received at different occasions. For example, your friend returned back money that she had lent from you, write it down; your mom gave you the money you'd paid for a grocery item while coming home; write it down. All these things would be your 'income' (feels great, yeah?)

This is the detailed monthly expense of October. I even wrote the smallest Rs. 5 deal! Remembering where your money goes after coming back home becomes easy too. You must have seen that I haven't put any sort of hard work other than calculating, which was simple too. There are no pencils, no rulers, no fancy items...nothing.

The best thing was writing the total amount on weekly basis as well. It was shocking to know how a big expense affected the week's total. I really loved how I could compare all the five weeks of October.

Now, for this month, after having an experience of October month, I have decided to divide my pocket money into two parts--First fifteen days 50%, and the next fifteen days 50%. If you keep this target, no matter whether you save or no, at least you'll have a blast towards the month end, and live the second half of every month just like the first half!

How do you manage your expenses?
xoxo
