The Pretty City Girl | Indian Travel & Lifestyle Blog

And also a Things that I Loved Throughout post on the assigned day. Feels great, you know.

There are quite a lot of things that I loved in this month, or rather shall I say, there are things I took note of from the starting of the month, and not just concentrated on the good parts that I remembered on the last day of the month, somehow? (Does this question even make sense?)

Alright, so here's my list of happiness this month. And I'm changing the layout of it to a better one.

ONE // New Computer
Yeah, it seriously is bliss. And I always wanted to buy a Windows 8. So now my cell phone and computer, both have Windows 8 OS. The first time I used a Windows 8 start screen, and I was reassuring myself that I'm on my new COMPUTER, and not using my Lumia 720.

TWO // 200 Followers on Instagram
Finally I made it to 200. And now it is more than 200. I guess the basic rule for followers is uploading your own photos, and not that of coffee, tea, cookies, etc., unless you're famous already. Because I've observed whenever I upload my own photo, I at least get one new follower. Well, with an own photo, I don't just mean selfies, but the ones that you have your face in. I don't believe I actually used the word selfie. I'm not a selfie-person, but today anyway, I uploaded a photo with 'Selfie in train' as the caption.
Another thing is that I love it when girls follow me, because I can tell them about my blog. When guys follow, I'm not happy.

THREE // Projects
All the projects this semester were great. I was satisfied, and I'm glad I'm improving. So this one is a project we had for Radio and Television subject, where we had to make a Pitch of our own, and make a Promotional PPT on it. So, I used an Mtv Logo just to add seriousness on my Title-of-the-soap page. I don't know if it is appropriate to use an Mtv logo on this blog. But I just loved this project and I got 8/10 for it. Thanks Mtv (and I apologize if I'm wrong anywhere, and I will take down this image if it is against your rules).

FOUR // Agenda
I love this agenda. Initially I made few mistakes in it, but now I'm feeling that it is perfect. I might write a post on how to maintain an agenda too. Unbelievably, I take a look at it every day. And also write all the activities on all the three 'views'- yearly, monthly, and weekly . Trust me; I've become an up-to-date and an organized person because of it.

FIVE // Sister's Visit to my House
I'm always happy when my cousins visit me. I have a very special bond with them. They're like my friends more than cousins. So she visited me when I needed someone to be with me during late night projects completions. My parents were thinking of going to Kolhapur for the Darshan of Ambabai Devi, which is said to be my family's Kula-Daivat, and just because my sister was ready to live here for more days, they did not cancel the trip. So my sister and I stayed at home, and they went to Kolhapur.
Her stay was only fun. We watched movie every single night, and obviously, what else can we watch other than rom-coms? When she's here, or I'm at her place, we have to watch at least one rom-com, that's the rule, and later drool over how hot Josh Duhamel is!
Actually, we had watched Safe Haven together, and didn't know who Josh Duhamel was then. But after seeing him in the movie, we went crazy! (And obviously downloaded all his movies and watched them later.)
We went to some place, almost every evening. Once to marine drives, once to Kalyan for project work, and one evening visited our cousin sister at IIT-Powai/Bombay!
And the best part was, when we were alone, we ordered pizzas! But those days weren't just fun-filled; I had a major project to submit. And I'm glad she helped me, and did not hesitate to oil my hair, and massage them even at 2 in the night.

SIX // Blog
You know I do not need any reason to love my blog. And especially with the change in the layout and the appearance, I'm in love with it even more! Plus, hey, I got a new follower!

SEVEN // L'Oreal Paris Serum
It was my best buy of January, and it is seriously is the BEST. It is my first serum, and I love it so much. You need to buy it! And apply to the hair strands, and tips only, and not to your scalp. This is something obvious, but, I'm a blogger, and I give tips.
Anyway, this serum makes my hair super awesome, and super smooth, and super shiny.

EIGHT // 300 Likes on Facebook Page
Oh yes, they are 315, now! Every day I try my best to improve this page. I have added new album 'Shoes Maniac', and was currently in the 'Marilyn Monroe Mania (MMM)', which ended yesterday. I also add random images in the Timeline Photos.

NINE // New Logo
OH. MY. GOD. I don't believe how this design struck me. I love the new logo! It is simple, and suits the blog perfectly! I made it in paint, and trust me; it was very simple to make. I've re-sized it, and hence you can see pixels, and I'm absolutely sorry for that.

Okay, so the number is 9. Pretty odd, isn't it? What are your favourites of February?

After two months, finally, I could write a Best Buys post on the assigned day- all thanks to my agenda!

There aren't sufficient best buys in this month too, but there's definitely a huge one in this month.

For all the new readers, best buy(s) is a post I write on the end of every month. It has all those products that I get in less price, and are satisfactorily awesome, and those which belong to the month. Like Best Buy(s) // February indicates all the products from February.

HP All in One Computer
I bought this new computer by HP. It is i3, and has 4 GB RAM, and...Windows 8! This was perfect for  media related work- Photoshop, Power Director, projects, etc. I bought this for Rs. 43,000, and sold the previous one for Rs. 6,500. So you can say I got it for Rs. 36,500. Not bad.
My old computer had absolutely no problem at all, but only that I needed a faster processor for the projects.
I had thought of making a special post on the new computer, but then didn't get appropriate time for the same.

Water Bottle (Umm, yeah)
Alright, I know, posting about water bottle is lame, but it is my best friend, at least in summers. I got it for Rs. 25. Can you believe it? And it does fit lot of water inside. It is a PET bottle, which means it is ideal for health. I hope you guys know that drinking from a plastic bottle is harmful? So, these are great alternatives. Plus, there are cute colours available in PET bottles, too. I bought a blue one, because it was the only good colour out of all. I wanted this shape, particularly.

Flower Bouquet
Remember these flowers I bought for mom this Valentine's? I did not mention the price then, but it costed Rs. 200 only. This was the first time I was buying a bouquet for anyone, so I did not know the price. I thought it would be ranging 400-500. I was surprised when the shopkeeper told me it was for Rs. 250. Yes, 250, my friend bargained the price, and finalized it at 200!

These were my best buys. Don't forget to comment below mentioning yours!

For all the stationary-freaks like me, I have an amazing way to organize stationary. Since I have lots of stationary items with me, I decided to make a box. And I'm so much excited to show it to you guys.

It's a simple cardboard box. As my dad had purchased the product Positrim from Amway, I had this box at home. I thought it is big enough to hold all the items.
You can use a simple box like I have used, or can go with a fancy one. I prefer this one, as it is economical, and we can reuse it.

And you must have known my obsession of writing such names, till now. I've written 'Stationary Box' on top of it, because, you know I love to write on boxes and plastic bags (to make it look more organized).
You can write it nicely, or with a different color, and decorate your box. I made it simple.

This is a top-view, after opening the box.
I shifted the index cards box in this box, because I don't use index cards other times, except for my exams.

Finally these are the items I safeguard in it-

  • 35 + Black and Blue Ball Point Pens
  • Sketch Pens
  • Pencils
  • Glue
  • Sparkle Pens
  • Punch Machine
  • Scissors
  • Stapler
  • Stapler Pins
  • U Pins
  • Index Cards
  • Rulers

The list might change.

Where do you keep extra stationary stuff?

As I told you, once in a while I become a philosophical saint, and wish to write something sentimental, philosophical, (and inspirational for some of you out there).

After the rejection from AdSense, and having blues for three days continuously, I guess I am happy today.

So last night I was writing a research paper, for Mass Media Research subject, and I realized I am not that bad as I'd thought I was. Bad in the sense, maybe the English that I used was totally different than what I write on this blog.
Of course, TPCG has a light tone, whereas research paper should be formal. But I'd never thought I could bounce back from a light tone, to a serious, and formal one. Since I'm writing TPCG for five months now, I thought maybe my English language and its grammar would remain the same for ever, but no, I guess I was wrong.
I thank God that I wrote the research paper nicely. I felt as if I'm reading a research topic and the conclusion from an EVS text book.

Though I know grammar rules, sometimes I suck at it. Like, for example, yesterday I shared the questionnaire online, and the second respondent corrected my English. Yes, I did go down that time, but then just chucked it away. I somehow gathered my confidence, and edited the questionnaire.

I guess I can be a good proof reader, since I'm always correcting people's grammar! But I myself don't know if I'm good at it.

Anyway, the happiness that I'm talking about doesn't include this research paper, but something else.
I might post a photograph of it on Instagram. So stay tuned, there.

Yes, I like talking a lot. And sorry to diverge the topic (ha ha!).

Lots of Love,
Rutuja!

My friend, Rutuja Nagwekar, has a similar style of taking stationary to college. Even she carries a pencil case, which is full of college essentials like pens, pencils, highlighters, stapler, etc. And the most fascinating thing that I saw in her pencil case, was her Dual Highlighter!

I hadn't heard about a dual highlighter before, and hadn't even seen one. So I got amused and decided on the spot that "Ek Post Toh Banta Hai Iski Upar".

Whenever I ask Rutuja to send any of her photos, she has to send it perfectly. Unlike me, who is very lazy in all this.

So this is the Dual Highlighter by Kores. It has a Highlighter in one end, and a Sketch-pen on the other. Somehow reminds me of CatDog cartoon! Oh I loved it.

The great thing about the highlighter is that it saves your space.
There are three other colors that are available, apart from this florescent yellow- pink, orange and green, obviously in florescent shades.

Another great thing about it is that if you're a florescent girl, you are just getting florescent sketch-pens here! How cool is that?

The pen costs Rs. 20, I guess.

So go buy it!

The gift is not as fancy as you think. I've used all the materials that were available at home, for making it.

I gave it to one of my good friends from college, as a birthday gift.

Things you'll need-

Printing Paper
Hello Kitty Mini Greeting Cards Layout
Scissors
Thin Card Paper
White Paper
Glue Stick
Ruler
Markers/Sketch pens
Washi Tape
Thermocol Balls (optional)
Mini Chocolates
Satin Ribbon
Plastic Bag/Gift Box

Steps-

1. Take a printing paper (I used Bilt Royal Executive Bond Paper, because it is thicker than the regular one).

2. Print a Hello Kitty Mini Greeting Cards layout. To get the layout, visit Sanrio.com.
3. Choose which layout you liked the most, and cut on the dotted lines.

4. Take a thin card paper, or the cover of an old book, and stick it to the inside of your greeting card.
5. Take an un-ruled white paper, and stick it to this card paper (in the insides of the greeting card).

6. Cover the sides with a Washi tape.

7. Write the message.

8. Don't forget to write your name at the back!
9. Take a plastic bag, or a gift box.
10. I put the card in it, few thermocol balls, and the chocolates.
11. Later I tied a ribbon to it, and voila!

So this is how it looks. I know it is not pretty, but I made it for her with all my heart. And I guess that is what counts.

Have you made such small gift packs for your friends or family?

I saw a photo of a delicious recipe in my BFF's Instagram account, and I got an inspiration to cook.

I had gone for a three hours class for learning Punjabi Bhajis, few years back. I learnt this recipe from that class. It tasted yummy. I'm writing this post, after having two bowls of it (okay, small bowls).

And don't worry, this blog is not turning into a cooking show!

(I don't know if it looks yummy in the picture.)

Serves-

3-4

Things you'll need-

For Gravy-

Chopped Onions 1/4 Cup
Tomato 1
Cashew Nuts 1 Tbsp
Poppy Seeds 1 Tbsp (I didn't use this ingredient)
Cloves 3
Cinnamon 2
Kashmiri Chilli 6
Black Cardamom 2
Ginger-Garlic-Paste 1/2 Teaspoon
Cumin Seeds 1/2 Tbsp

For Bhaji-

Paneer (Cottage Cheese) 200 Grams
Dried Fenugreek Leaves 1 Teaspoon
Tomato Ketchup 1 Tbsp
Fresh Cream 1 Tbsp
Mawa (Optional) 2 Tbsps
Boiled Vegetables 2 Cups (I used Cauliflower, Carrot, Green Peas, Capsicum, and Green Beans)
Oil 3 Tbsp (Use more than this) OR Butter 3 Tbsp
Boiled Water 1 Cup
Salt
Red Color (I did not use it)
Bay Leaf 1

Steps-

1. Chop all the vegetables of your choice.

2. Boil all the vegetables.
3. Keep it for boiling, while you chop onions and tomato.

4. In a mixer vessel, put all the 'FOR GRAVY' ingredients, and grind till they turn into a thick paste.
5. Take a large bowl (kadhai) and place it over the stove, with a full flame.
6. Put oil and wait till it gets hot.
7. Put a bay leaf, and fry for a minute.
8. Switch the flame to the lowest.
9. Put the GRAVY, and fry it for two minutes.
10. Put tomato ketchup, dried fenugreek leaves and mawa, and fry for a minute.
11. Put the boiled vegetables and Paneer pieces, and fry again for a minute.
12. Pour boiled water in it.
13. Add salt, fresh cream, and color.

Tada! This is how it looks like, in the end.

Best with-

Rotis/Parathas (Indian bread)

P.S. If you want to know the class's name, message me or comment below.

Many of you must know this already-

This is a charm or a simple key-chain attached to the pen drive. The pen drives are very small in size. So you know you might just wanna make them fun or simply decorate them using different charms, or so that you don't lose them.

This is my classmate's pen drive along with the key-chain/charm.

I know that one of the main reasons why people buy pen drives is the little space that it takes. I know that. But if you have a very (mark my words), a very important document or a project in it, then I guess you would really need a help.

So maybe other days you can use your small pen drive, but otherwise, attach the charm, and carry it to the office/college/school.

Plus you can always customize or use a fun charm for your pen drive! How cool is that?

x

Do you have a little-something attached to your pen drive?

This semester's photography project is so much fun! We just have to collect photographs of alphabets A to Z, but in our surroundings. That is, for example, a bangle can be an O, and so on.

Though my group and I didn't actually take any special effort to click the photographs, yet it was fun. And as I am the CR (Class Representative) of the class, the sir had asked me to collect every group's project. So I can just go through all the alphabets, and wonder how creatively they are captured.

These are basically the alphabets making the word 'TPCG'.

The 'P' and 'G' are of my group, and the other two alphabets are of my classmates.
A big thank you to them!

x

Do you like finding alphabets or numbers in your surrounding?

I wanted to write this post long back, during my internal tests, but then I missed the dates, and so thought I would write it after two months, during the peak final-exams time. This post is not exam related, but a way you would regret not keeping your notes in one place (ha ha!).

I also made a video with all the explanations, but it took me forever to upload it on YouTube, so I dropped the idea.

Never mind, here's this plastic bag, with my college stuff.

This is a plastic bag which I got along with a parcel. You can get such anywhere, else you can just put all these things in a normal folder. But the reason why I'm stressing on the word 'plastic' is because it just makes the whole organization process economical.
Next time you won't say that this blog just has all the expensive things out of which stuffs are made.

Well, jokes apart.

I've stuck an un-ruled index card here, and have written 'Semester IV' on it. So next year in 'Semester V', if I have to refer anything from 'Semester IV', I'll have things ready for a quick reference.

So now finally, what's in there? These are my personal notes, which I also call as 'Self Notes'. I'll write a post on them soon and let you know how you can organize, write and maintain these notes. (So stay tuned for that!)

And then, these are just Advertising subject's notes that sir gave us in a photocopy format.

So basically, you can keep all the papers, documents, exam papers, sheets, notes, self-notes in this bag. You can decorate it, or even use a funky colored bag. But honestly, this clear bag looks so much sophisticated.

x

Do you really safeguard your notes? Or you throw them away?

The post's name seems interesting, but hey, I promise the post is as interesting as its name!

I had mentioned about these spoons on my Facebook page. But then I thought why not to write a post about them.

These spoons come handy when you want to give your guests a small bowl of Gajar Halwa. They look extremely cute. So when you bring yourself a parcel of any of Ice cream cups or Pastries, and get these cute spoons, don't forget to wash them and keep them with you.

(Oh and you might need them to decorate your bowl of boiled corns and put them on Instagram!)

Plus the colors are amazingly cute, too!
You can keep them in a glass or a pencil-stand to add it to the look.

Do you collect such spoons?

I bet you guys are going to love this recipe. I just started off with making French fries and ended up having this recipe. It tastes amazingly yummy.
The name is soo American-Chinese-French.

(I showed this to my cousin brother who is sitting right next to me, and he has nearly killed me for showing him this. He's way too hungry now!)

Well I don't know why I'm posting up recipes on this blog. Maybe, I'm turning into a Chef!

Without further talks, let's go to the ingredients.

Things you'll need (for ONE person only)-

  • 2 Potatoes
  • Knife
  • Potato Peeler
  • Oil
  • Deep Bowl
  • Big Spoon
  • Tissues (optional)
  • 2 Plates (one of them to be microwave proof)
  • Salt
  • Chilli Powder
  • Oregano
  • Cheese Slices/Cubes/Spread
  • Schezwan Sauce

Steps-

1. Take two potatoes.
2. Wash them.
3. Peel them with a Potato Peeler, or simply with a knife.

4. Chop the potatoes in French Fries style, and not the Potato Wedges one. If you're trying the Fries style for the first time, and can't get it, then just go for Wedges. Since it is your first time, you might suck at it, but maybe twice or thrice, you'll start becoming a pro in chopping Fries.

5. Put a bunch of Fries in the Big Bowl containing Oil, and deep fry the Fries.
6. Remove them out with a Big Spoon and place them over a plate. Make sure your plate has a sheet of tissues on it, for absorption of the excess of oil.
7. After all the Fries are deep fried, transfer them to a microwave proof plate.
8. Sprinkle some salt.
9. Sprinkle Chilli powder.
10. Sprinkle Oregano.
11. Put Schezwan Sauce.
12. Put cheese.
13. Keep the plate in the Microwave, and heat it for 30 seconds (and see how the cheese has melted).
14. Put a fork in the plate, and FEAST!

Tada!

I'm not a 'back cover' freak. I mean I'm just okay with a black colored back cover.

After college, I just went to one of the local shops in Mulund along with my friends. Actually, I went with them. They had to buy a cover for themselves. So I just asked the shopkeeper to show me 720 back covers as well (as I own a Lumia 720).

Many times I've asked different shops, but none had good covers. Few of the shops just have a plain silicone one.
I'd given up long back, after purchasing a grayish black silicone cover. It was an emergency, so I had to buy some cover for the phone's protection (as I was about to travel in a crowded local train, and my phone was brand new then!)

Anyway, talking about these covers, I just loved them. Obviously they don't suit my personality, but I guess many of you girls would love such a cover.
This shop is located near Mulund station in the West. If you want the details of the shop, then do ask me in the comments below, or on the Facebook page.
In the shop adjacent to it, there were covers for the guys. I couldn't get an Arsenal one, but there were Barcelona, Real Madrid and also covers having cars and bikes on them.

So if you're one of those 720 users who think they don't get much choice in the back covers, then visit these shops in Mulund.
And if you know any places having such adorable covers, then please don't forget to tell us about them.
(And if there's an Arsenal one, please, please, tell me about it.)

Do you change your phone's back covers too often?

You can also comment on this post, or on the previous one.
You can even write as a message on the Facebook page.

Don't worry about the privacy. It's totally safe with me.

I hope you're still in a post-valentine's mood!

Alright, this became the Valentine's Day for me, just an hour ago. I was down since morning. My mood was terrible, and I had a bad hair day.

I was in a casual black Adidas t-shirt, with a thick line of kohl and eye-liner. And I just don't know why, almost every person on the road looked at me, while I passed by. And I detest it when people look/stare at me.
I wasn't quite happy with my shoes, too. And I had a fight with one of my best friends, which summed up everything.

Anyway, I never have special plans on Valentine's, except that my family and I go out for dinner, as 14th February is also my parents's marriage anniversary!

And the flowers that you see are very, very special.
Since my dad is out of town for a couple of days, he couldn't make it for their day. So he texted me yesterday and asked me to buy a flower bouquet for my mom!
I was aww-ing and was totally shocked and ecstatic at the same time. This was sooo romantic.

So, that's all for the day- a very regular for me. But I hope you guys had a great time with your loved ones.

Do write to me at rutucute@gmail.com; or message me on the Facebook page; or comment below describing your Valentine's Day!

So, I posted a photo of this on Instagram. But that time I made it only for me. When my cousin sister was over my house, I made it for both of us. And that's when I took these pictures.

ONE // Take a glass, and put chocolates inside it. Try dark chocolates instead of milk ones. Dark chocolates will give you a better taste. I've tried both of them, and hence I'm so sure about it.

TWO // Put the glass and the chocolates in the oven, and heat it for say, 40 seconds?

THREE // Pour hot milk in the melted chocolate glass, and stirrrr!

P.S. Since I've used chocolate nougat here, the color looks like this. Please use DARK CHOCOLATES ONLY!

Make it, and let me know how it tasted in the comments below!
