The Pretty City Girl | Indian Travel & Lifestyle Blog

Hey there! I was at an awards ceremony yesterday and came home late. Hence I could not write here.

You know right, that I don't read much books and that I'm not into reading? But luckily, I'm reading a book! For reading, the most annoying thing is to remember the page number. For that, I quickly searched my drawer, and found this amazing tag! I immediately started using it as a bookmark.

I don't know why, but I've developed more interest in reading, and the reason could be this tag!

The cuter the tag, the funner the reading!

P.S. I'm reading That Monroe Girl by Diane Cosgrove.

That Monroe Girl

Which book are you currently reading? Hashtag #readingwithtpcg on Twitter and Instagram, so that I can find you guys there. Don't forget to mail me the reviews of the books you're done reading.

Hey! We had our farewell today. Finally, graduating from college. I don't believe the three years have passed by. It was such a great journey.
As our farewell was in our college itself, and a totally formal one, we couldn't wear shorts or dresses. So we had to wear something formal, yet dressy. I chose the top I was gonna wear for my birthday dinner.

Hey! Sorry for not writing for three days in a row. I was done with my last paper and so was out. Day before yesterday, I was out to an arts festival. And yesterday, I went to Pune, and came back on the same day. Finally I'm done with exams, and I'm so relieved!
Well, this is the outfit I wore to my one-day trip to Pune yesterday. Trust me; it was so comfortable.

This is the best outfit for summer, I guess.
These are the steps of my second house, which is in Pune. It was my grandfather's. (Rather we still call it as "Ajobancha Ghar," which means Grandfather's House, when we refer to this place.) This is a bungalow, and these are the steps inside! My cousin brother, Pratik, clicked these pictures.

This is like the West meets India. Lot of people asked me about the pants. If you want to know about those, read further.
And yes, this is the terrace. The work is still in progress. (Ignore the black sunglasses in some pictures; I had worn my cousin's that time.)

Now let's get started with the outfit:

Crop Top: Forever 21
From: Forever 21 Showroom
Price: Rs. 400 (I guess)

That's it. (I'm glad I'm finally buying stuff from the streets.) ;)

Hey! Though there was a search bar inside the navbar already, I thought there should be an additional Search Bar inside the blog. So I removed the navbar, and instead put a Search Bar for you guys to easily search through the blog.

Towards your right, there's the 'Search TPCG' option to search simply anything in the blog.

For an example, I've typed 'exam' in the search bar, and this is how the screen looked like. (Click and open the image for a clearer view.)

There are page numbers too, so you can get many options.

I hope you liked the new feature.

P.S. I will find a way to improve the mobile site of TPCG too. Wait until tomorrow.

Hey! It's a small tip. For university and other competitive exams, there's a need to colour the circles while filling up our details. The circles are supposed to be circled in black ink only. This colouring process becomes hell of a task, especially when you're already freaked out. I seriously hate doing that.

But fortunately, I realized a way that helped me colour those annoying little circles with ease.

While colouring the circles for my second paper, I was luckily using a pen with a thicker nip. I was using a thin nip on my first paper. But while using a thicker one, I realized that it made a hell of a difference. So, make sure your black pen has a thick nip for finishing colouring the circles quickly!

Another tip for this is the method of colouring: Draw slant lines touching the circle, and then colour the remaining white area inside the circle.

The main thing is to colour the circle completely, so it doesn't matter if a bit of colour is going out of the circle. There's absolutely no need to bring out the artist in you and then colour it!

Check out these pens with thick nips:

Hey there! I've been getting many questions related to my stick-notes. 99% of my stick-notes are from China.

But yes, if you guys ask me from where you can get good stick-notes in India, I have an answer to that!

The other day, while I was searching for stationary online, I came across these extremely adorable stick notes...FOR LESS. Stick-notes are usually expensive, if you guys didn't know.

I've added the stick-notes in the left hand side of the blog. You can check out the stick-notes from there!
Do let me know if you buy them, and send me pictures on Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #sticknotesfortpcg

I hadn't decided to write this today. But this topic clicked me spontaneously. I thought it would be a great continuation-post for my yesterday's post.
My dad lived in China for 2 years, and before that, when I was in 9th, he had lived there for a year and a half. He knows lot of Chinese traditions and customs due to that.
And yes...he only told me how they drink green tea!

They just don't drink green tea like this, but all the types of tea found in China.
I'll explain you in steps:

  1. In a flask, take hot water.
  2. Put green tea leaves in the hot water. Make green tea as always.
  3. Sip it like you sip coffee from tumbler. Finish it until you reach your destination.
  4. After you reach your destination, or wherever hot water is available, refill your flask with hot water (in case your tea is over). Keep the used leaves inside the flask as they are.
  5. Drink off the tea. Follow the above steps again until you reach back home.
  6. Use one pack of green tea leaves per day.
They use the same leaves throughout the day. As the more you use those leaves, the more extract they produce.
They just put leaves in the morning, and throughout the day, they just refill the flask if needed.

They drink green tea (or any other tea) in winters. So if you live in the part of the world where it gets too cold, you can use this method! x

Hey! Yesterday's exam was okay. It wasn't great, because I did not write any quality answers. Actually the questions were such, that restricted us to write good, quality answers. So now, let's leave it on the examiner. I'm glad that this sucky paper is out of my life.

We had an exam today too, and the subject was a bit boring. We didn't have much to study, and so I was procrastinating. I had started to study, but my cousins came home, and they were talking loudly with my parents. So I couldn't concentrate and thus chucked it. After that, I watched TV till 9:00, and then my brother came home from his work and his classes. So, my parents were talking to him. I couldn't study then too. Yesterday's weather was a bit hot, and so, maybe, I didn't have the correct mood to study.

Anyway, my paper went well. Now I have an off on Saturday and Sunday, which means I'm totally relaxing until tomorrow evening! All the above was written yesterday, but as I got bored eventually, I left the post in the drafts, and edited it today.

So, finally, whew; how to make green tea? This post is dedicated for all those who haven't had a cup of green tea in their lives or simply don't know how to make it. There's no rocket science involved, but still, let's see how it is done.

I have two methods for the two forms of green tea that I have at home. Actually I have three forms of green tea at home, but I'm showing just two methods. The third method, for the powdered green tea, is more or less like how we make milk tea in India...except, don't put milk in this one.

First method is for tea bags.

Take hot water in a cup. You can either do it in a microwave oven or on the stove. Put the tea bag in the hot water.

I typically keep the water along with the tea bag in the oven for 30 seconds, and I'm done. I'm too impatient to wait for the long process.

After that, let the bag sit down in the water for few minutes. Start sipping it a bit. And then gulp it down!!

The second is for the tea leaves.

Take hot water, and put green tea leaves into it. Stir, stir, stir.

After a while, once you see the leaves are opening themselves up, filter the tea. Remove the leaves.

Oh and the green coloured water you see is your green tea! Enjoy! x

The 'Studying' post is getting featured on TPCG after so many days, rather, after a year. I don't know why, but I loved all the supplies that I was using yesterday night to study.

My finals are starting from tomorrow, and I started studying the paper I have tomorrow yesterday night at 10:00. I studied nicely from 10:00 to 2:00. I guess the only reason why I was motivated till 2:00 was my stationary! I loved the supplies.

Last semester, I wasn't really good at using these cute supplies. This semester, I'm back with them, and so I am motivated automatically.

Here's a look on the stuff I used last night:

My question bank, with a pink pen-pencil.

Index Cards with extremely quick notes. (Check out how to make index cards here.)

The little guy, along with an index card that has all the important years of the subject.

A look inside my self-notes. An orange coloured pen really brightening up my mood.

Little froggie saying me "hello". (Here's a link to my collection of stick-notes: http://www.theprettycitygirl.com/2013/09/a-box-full-of-stick-notes.html)

College notes along with my Fab Bag used as a pencil pouch. (How cute is my book?)

Black bear saying "hello"; and there's a pink stick-note peeping from behind.

Index cards of an answer pinned together by using a u-pin. (Check out 5 uses of index cards, in case you didn't know how to use them: http://www.theprettycitygirl.com/2014/03/5-ways-to-use-index-cards.html)

Finally, packed the books at 2:00 last night.

Check out all the posts with the heading 'Studying':
