Let me tell you, before choosing Journalism, I had various things in my mind. Rather, opting for Journalism was a big step. I had to think and rethink quite a number of times, and I remember how I finally came to the conclusion, and the spark I had in my eyes was something noteworthy.

I had interest in both the sides. Crazy, but I am a Jack of all trades, and a master of none! Almost every student from my class had decided which side they would opt for the last year. And here I was, still confused.
The second year was coming to an end. I had made it a point--before my lectures end, I will go to few professors, and thus try to clear my confusions.

I couldn't ask our course-coordinator and the lady professor, because the time was not perfect. During our submissions of Advertising projects, I asked the sir about the side I should choose--Advertising or Journalism. He started telling all the possibilities and the scope for both the fields. He spoke for at least twenty minutes. After he was done, I was happy that sir had answered my question, but wait; did he answer what EXACTLY I should choose?

I asked him again, and believe me or not, he said--

"Follow your Heart."

I haven't seen professors in India saying anything like this to students. This professor was a 'visiting' faculty, so it was an unimaginable answer from his side. And to add to it, he is old.

Anyway, my heart always wanted Journalism. I just smiled after his reply, and went quietly on my seat. My friends made it clear from the smile I had. My friends from Advertising were sad, because it meant partition in near future.
I miss the rest of my group who is in Advertising. We had become a nice group of friends. They were my support after the crazy episode of SYBMM.

So now after choosing Journalism, I haven't regretted even once. Alright I know, the semester has just begun, but I don't think it would be boring or hard. After all, if you have your heart in it, you can accomplish anything.

And now our Journalism class is perfect--nine students only; two boys; a small and a sweet class.

I don't know if such boxes are given in Christian weddings as invitations, or only in China, but my dad has received four such boxes. The boxes are so pretty.

I wanted to show these boxes. They give chocolates like Ferrero Rocher and Kisses in it.

One is tin, and other is made of paper.

It has enough space for keeping small things.

I guess these might be names of the couple written in Chinese.

Goodnight!

Tomorrow after college and lunch, I'll be leaving for Pune for my aunt's wedding. Her wedding is on Sunday, but tomorrow there's a pre-wedding ritual named 'Seemant Pujan'.
I'm excited to wear jewellery and Indian clothes. I've packed my bag, but toothbrushes and chargers are yet to go in.

(I'm too sleepy.)

For the Seemant Pujan, I'm going to wear a golden and an off white coloured Chudidaar, with pearl jewellery. As there is a gold earring inside, I had to be very careful. So I decided to fit all the jewellery inside this pretty tin box. I also made sure its lid was tight enough.

There's a story behind this box, which I'll post soon.
(I've also added the jewellery I'm going to wear on the wedding-day in this box.)

You can carry jewellery in a box or in a pouch; but be careful about the gold or diamonds!

How do you carry jewellery?

I was watching the old episodes of One Tree Hill today, and came across the famous term by Peyton Sawyer, "People Always Leave".

I'm currently lost in the tunes of Krishna Das's kirtans.

Krishna Das was born as Jeffrey Kagel. He is from US, and he flied to India. He got inspired by kirtans and yoga. That's when he started singing kirtans.

I'm crazily in love with the power and divinity in his voice. My brother introduced me to his kirtans. And I listen to them mostly when I'm down; these kirtans help me get peace and I slowly start forgetting pains or sorrows. You must have these kirtans in your playlists. I bet they'll pull you up.

Few of my favourite kirtans by Krishna Das:

Om Namah Shivaya

Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya

Hare Ram Hare Krishna

It's totally on you to listen to them or no. If you want good music and peace, then do listen.

P.S. God is one.

P.P.S. (Not promoting Hinduism.)

Till last year, I was miserable with assignments. Though I put 85% of my heart in doing projects, I neglected assignments. (85% of my heart because I used to start the projects two days or most of the times, one day before the due date.)

Sometimes the professors just ask us to write an essay (or a report for Journalism students), and as we know that such essays or such paper works don't carry marks, we neglect them. They might have class participation marks or maybe few marks, but nobody takes these works seriously. There are hardly students who take these seriously. (Well, in my last year's batch, my classmates used to take projects lightly as well.)

I always submitted these assignments on a normal full scape paper, torn shabbily from a long book; also the handwriting used to not be one of my best; and I used to simply suck it all.

But later, after watching few of my classmates' assignments, I started feeling ashamed about myself. I obviously know that submitting assignments on a neat paper with nice handwriting is must, especially for a blogger like me who talks about organization, but after reaching home, things used to be different.

There were so many distractions -- One Tree Hill, Facebook, Sleep, Friends and Blog. (Blog is not a distraction, but it cuts a lot of my daily time.) Every time I went home, I used to be determined to complete assignments on the day given, and keep them well organized in a folder, but all the planning used to be a waste.

Anyway, this year I'm going to try my best to submit assignments/paper-works/projects with good presentational views, and will try to start them as soon as possible. Like today, we had to submit a Success Story as a news report, and it was given to us a week back; and when did I start writing it? Yesterday, at 9 o'clock.

But the good part is, I liked the article I wrote, and yes, I submitted it neatly; so neatly that my classmate mocked at me saying, "Stop decorating it!" (I wasn't decorating it; I was just correcting few grammatical mistakes.)

Just be sure to submit all these on TIME and NEATLY. For some professors, it would be a delight to receive all the projects on the due date, but this would just be a fantasy for them!

Points to remember:

  1. You can submit the assignments on A4 size or Project papers.
  2. Write neatly.
  3. Research on the topic thoroughly.
  4. Use staplers or u-clips to attach multiple sheets.
  5. Carry assignments to college in clear sheet protectors.
  6. Take proper care of the papers in monsoon.
  7. Do not hesitate to carry a plastic bag or a shopping bag to carry assignments.

How do you submit projects and assignments?

With monsoon's arrival, comes the biggest question of a perfect outfit. Sure you might get good shoes like crocs or rubber shoes, but what about the bags? You definitely cannot carry a leather bag, or a canvas bag, or a cloth bag outside; so what exactly remains now? CLEAR PLASTIC BAGS.

I loved mine. I bought it from a Chinese online store, of course from China. There were different designs available in it, and many, many colours; 99% being the pastel shades.

After placing the order, I thought once again that whether it was a good idea, or no. As I'm not into such things, I was scared at first. But after I used it, just today, I was pretty contented. And to my surprise, my mates liked it too. They loved how the inside contents looked from a clear polka-dotted bag.

The reason I chose whitish-yellow was because it would go well on any coloured t-shirts. And as I've bought white coloured rainy shoes, I bet both of these together would make a great pair.

So if you have cute stuff in your bag usually, don't be scared to buy one!
Cheers.

For past few days, our professors have been doing nothing but making us realize how ignorant we are about the happenings. Right from US's Pentagon, to Iraq's current scenario, we were ignorant just about everything. We are just 9 people who opted for Journalism this year, and only one amongst us answers almost all the questions.

After few really bad realizations, we, rather I have decided to seriously do something about it. As I told you I don't like reading, I need to do something anyway. Well I am totally alright to go with the electronic format. That 'brilliant' student of our class probably was up-to-date with the news due to Twitter; he followed all the witty people, and hence was so good with the happenings. I asked him about the people I should follow, and yeah, I have started following quite a bunch of people. He is following around 400+ people, so obviously it will take me a pretty long time to ask him about every 'tweeple'. So tomorrow in college I might ask him about the remaining list of tweeples.

Apart from Twitter, I thought I should go through the (Bing) News app that I had on my tablet. And to my surprise, I was reading news on it for four hours! I was literally glued to it, and at last I let it go when it was 6:30, and I had to go on terrace.

Though it's going to be a long post, I'm sure many of the Windows 8 users will love it and find it useful.

I've pinned it on my Startscreen.

After opening the app, the top news appear first.

Next to the big image is the 'Getting Started' panel. It has some basic options to make this app more useful.

The first option being the 'Add A Source Title' lets you add all the sources from where you would want your news to come from. There are many options to choose from, like Featured, International News, Business, etc.

We have to just click on the 'plus' sign to add the source, and click on the 'tick' sign to remove a particular source.

Currently, I have added all these sources.

In the second option 'Customise your news', there are further four options, and a way in which we can remove the sources/topics from the list.

After clicking on 'Topic', we can add any random topic about which we would wish to hear news. For example, I've added 'Arsenal' and 'Article 37' in my topics.

Adding Sources, Managing Categories and International News are similar to what we did in adding sources.

This is how the page looks after keeping the options-panel to the left. We get an overview of Headlines, Photos, etc.

These are the Drop-Down-Options (or at least what I call them); we can get them by right-clicking anywhere on the white part of the screen.

I hope all the 'I Desperately Need To Be Up-To-Date With The World' people have taken a note about this.

I never knew I would write a special post on my tablet. Recently I've found out how fortunate I am to own a tablet, especially because it can be converted to a laptop as well.

My father had bought this tablet just few days before we left for China. He bought it because it was light weight. He has to climb four stairs with a heavy laptop on his back for his work. Obviously that means there's no lift at the place he works.

That was the sole purpose for buying this tablet. However, after we reached China, and after my dad carried this tablet to his office for almost a month, he realized how bad it was for his eyes. And as you all know...as we start growing older, our eyesight weakens. That's exactly what is happening with my dad.

So when there was just three days remaining for India, dad finally came onto a conclusion -- take back his laptop from me, and give me his tablet.

Of course, tablets are genius; but they're not really useful when it comes to readability. And dad needs the laptop/tablet for work, and not for leisure. Whereas it'd be totally cool if I used it, as I use it for leisure, or sometimes for writing blog. Plus, dad had to draw some tables of Excel for his office, and it would've been a hell of a painstaking task to do it on a comparatively smaller screen, with those fat fingers of his!

I love this notebook (or tablet). I'm no techno-geek here, but I love to have the latest possible technology with me, unlike other girls. I can use this notebook with me anywhere that I would want to carry it. (Carrying it in rains is just not possible for me.) It is not heavy, and has a stylish design.

To add to it, I was using it as a laptop, and not a tablet. Today, just today, I removed its keyboard, and used it as a tablet, and oh my God, I loved it. We've always played games on our friend's tablet; but it is great to have one of our own. I downloaded car-racing games, and played them crazily. (Now the tablet is unfortunately on charge!)

This tablet has Windows 8.1, and as I have a Lumia, it makes it all a fun. I use the same account for my PC's 8.1, my tablet's 8.1, and finally, on my Lumia 720's almost 8.1! The best thing about Windows 8 (and 8.1) is the selection of the themes. I change it every day according to my t-shirt's colour! (I know, crazy.)

If you wish to know more about the notebook, you always have the net, and the ASUS website.

Do you own a tablet?

After spending almost a week on terrace every evening with friends, today we thought of going out; of course not to roam, but to buy few necessities; for example, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, taking clothes from the tailor, etc.

As this semester I am going to use my school-time notebooks as books for different lectures, I obviously needed good cover pages for those books. These school-notebooks have brown and yellow cover pages, and trust me, there's nothing fancy about them. As you know my trick to convert a horribly ugly book to a customized or at least a pretty looking book is to cover it with gift paper, I went on for a gift paper hunt.

I've got many conditions while buying anything, especially when it's stationary. I know I won't get good gift papers in an ordinary shop, but still I tried in few of the comparatively 'fancy' stationary/gift shops. Though I did not find papers that I'd imagined, still I'm glad I found a nice, in fact, a superb shop right near my vicinity...

We were supposed to go in different shops, but as this shop was on our way, we stepped in, and to my surprise, it was a treat to our eyes! 'Celebration' is a gift shop. I'd been there long time back, but somehow hadn't found it that good. But today when I went there, I was marveled.

This gift shop has crockery, key-chains, greeting cards, soft toys, gift papers, photo frames, flowers, etc. But along with these regular 'gift items', the shop also has handbags, pouches, makeup pouches, pencil cases, mini greeting cards, mobile covers, iPad covers, pill cases, makeup products, fake jewelery, pencil stands, slam books, hair brushes, deodorants, shower caps (!) and funky sling bags! Whew!

I loved, loved, and loved every single piece in this shop. But as the gift papers didn't exactly fit in my criteria, I did not buy them. The good ones had a metallic finish, whereas the regular papers weren't up to the mark. I had put two rolls of gift papers in the cart, however did not purchase them eventually.

Towards the end, all I would say to you all is to check this shop out. (Email me or contact me on the Facebook page to know the shop's contact details.)

I was thoroughly impressed by this style of traffic management in China, especially in the new developed areas of Pudong, Shanghai. I saw roads which were much different than those in India, or for that matter, in Abu Dhabi and/or Dubai. I don't know if other countries in the world have this system or no, but whatever it is, every road should be similar to this.
For all the architecture and civil engineering students, take a read.

The roads in this particular area were well planned.
The road has a footpath along the sides, but to add to it, it has yet another piece of road divided from the main road along both the sides.
The footpath is no doubt made for walking; whereas this small division has a special purpose. Lot of people in China use bicycles to travel in the city.
So along with bicycles, they ride mopeds and scooters too. All these two wheelers drive on these small divisions. Along with them, I've seen little kids going all skate-boarding through these roads.

How convenient is it! Imagine no two wheelers coming in your speedy drive. It is also better for two wheeler riders, as they can safely roam around, without fearing the 'invasion' of four wheelers or trucks and buses. (I would've easily rode my moped in China.)

The mopeds/scooters go to and fro so calmly. And as the mopeds don't emit smoke or noise, it is really a peaceful deal.

Apart from this arrangement and division of roads, there are beautifully maintained shrubs, flowers and trees alongside the roads. They were so marvelous, that my mom used to ask me to shoot videos that consisted these colourful flowers and lush greenery.

This is the road that connects the main-road to Shanghai Science and Technology Museum. This is not an actual road, but I couldn't get a nicer photo to explain.

And lastly, the roads are huge and clean.
