The Pretty City Girl | Indian Travel & Lifestyle Blog

Day 1

Yesterday night, I was frustrated as I couldn't make it for my second rank prize distribution. I was to receive a certificate and scholarship for securing Second Rank in SYBMM. Apart from that, I also was to click a photograph with other Student Council members for college magazine. I seriously feel so sad to not have been here in Mumbai for two of the best moments of my life.
Also, one of my close friends was marrying this 25th; I couldn't attend the marriage as well, just because I was traveling to Kerala for the Industrial Visit.

Nevertheless, the IV was fun.

I got up at 8:00 a.m. on 24th January, and started getting ready. As I had cleaned myself last evening, I was feeling pretty fresh. The train towards Kerala was from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Kurla, and was to be boarded at 11:50 in the noon.
I asked my girlfriends to meet me near their houses (which also happened to be on the same route as to the terminus) at 9:45.

I left at 9:30, dressed in a grey tee, black jeans, black hoodie, black slippers, and had carried grey tassel bag, camera bag, and black stroller. I had washed my hair and so they were half damp.

My brother started the car and off we went towards Kurla. First we picked my girlfriends on the way, and then left for the further journey. We were listening to Ass Like That of Eminem, and it did turn our moods on. We were talking about how we would spend our IV and how much fun we would have.

Our professor had asked us to reach the terminus at 10:50, and we had reached there 45 minutes earlier. Thankfully, a group of our juniors was sitting in the lobby, and they called us in. We three sat on the chairs and were mocking and having fun. In a while, all the professors, students, and their parents started coming in the lobby. The sir handed us the tickets, and we went on Platform No. 1 of the terminus.

We immediately got into the train, and started arranging all the stuff. Actually, our seat numbers were next to each other, but still we swapped the seats with three students. From B1 we went to B6 (or something similar to this).

Our new seats were next to our professors, and trust me, it was fun! I don't know why people run away from the professors. My girlfriends and I had total fun, playing and singing with them. We even played Uno and playing-cards with them.

After hogging on snacks, our "lunch" for the day was over. The time passed by quickly, and slowly the evening was turning into darkness. We slept cozily in the blankets provided by our train, and thus called it a day.

---

I could have written more, but my annoying brother was troubling me.
See you for today. Goodnight!

Hey guys! I am back in Mumbai. The IV was superb and I missed you all. Like every month-end, before discussing about IV, let me come straight to the post 'Things that I Loved throughout'. Though from this year onwards the topic will change to 'Favourites'. Here are some of my favourites from this month-

  1. New Theme | I loved the new theme and it definitely suits me. With pink and black, TPCG's new theme is perfect.
  2. Updated Blog Graphics | I love the way I design blog graphics now. They bring a personality to my posts.
  3. IV | Aha! The Industrial Visit was too good guys. We had lots of fun. Apart from that, I also met one of my readers, Honey, on this IV. It was lovely to play Uno with her and giggle with her.
  4. Accessories | All the rings and bracelets are too lovely.
  5. Handbags | I have so many handbags, and they add the finishing look to my outfit.
  6. Business Cards | I distributed my cards to many people. More than 30 of them are distributed, out of 50.
  7. Memory Jar | This idea was a must-try. I am collecting all the positive stuff that happened, and January did bring me lots of joy.
  8. Agenda | I haven't posted a picture of agenda yet, but it is awesome.
  9. Glasses | My brother and mother didn't like my frames, but my father loved them. And me? I don't know. At least I have two frames now.
  10. Pinterest Fun | Pinterest is my favourite pass-time currently. I go to Pinterest other than Google Search Engine to search for fun-filled photographs.
  11. New Year Celebration | New Year celebration on terrace was seriously cool. We danced our bums off, and the food that followed was yummy too.

What are you January Favourites?
xoxo

Hey guys! I am in Kumarakom, Kerala. It is so hot here. It is hotter than Mumbai.
It's our Industrial Visit, and so sorry for not writing for so many days. I was busy in packing, and yesterday night I was in train, with no network signal whatsoever.

I am in my room right now, which is shared by three other friends. I am just here to tell that I won't be able to write for couple of days more. I will go back to Mumbai on 30th, and only then will I be able to write peacefully.

The journey from Kurla to Kerala was nice. Now looking forward to all the places here. Tomorrow is jam packed again. We will go to Kerala backwaters and after that will travel to Munnar and then probably have a DJ Night in Munnar hotel.

I am desperately willing that the weather should be a bit colder than today's. I am really excited for the further trip.

Seeing you off.
Goodnight.

This post was scheduled yesterday, but as I had gone out to buy shoes with my brother, I couldn't post. I also was watching a very important Manchester City vs. Arsenal match.

I have started keeping papers on my worktop for more than a month. I love this idea. Initially, I used to just keep the long-list, but now few other things are added to it.
This is definitely a great idea as the papers are right in front of us, in case we need them, to jot down important things.

I've kept the pile of papers towards the left of my table.

I've kept stick notes, long list, papers (which are torn from 2014 agenda), index cards, and my home agenda in this pile!

Do you keep papers on your desk?

Hey! My results are here. Last time when we'd checked on the University website, we'd just known whether we were passed or failed. But today, they displayed the marks too, near the college's office. I passed with an A Grade. Though I wanted an O, I guess A is acceptable too. We had 75:25 system this year, which means 75 marks are external and 25 marks are internal; it was one of the bad decisions of MU.

Here are 6 simple things to do previous night to reach college on time:

One. Deciding Clothes | Deciding clothes is an important thing, especially for the girls. When you get up, bath, and then go to your closet to search an outfit, the time's running already. To avoid going late to college, the best way is to decide the clothes you would wear, a night before.

You can keep aside clothes to wear on a hanger hanged on your room's door knob. You can even use multiple hangers to hang bottom, cardigans, etc.

Two. Keeping Out the Accessories | You love wearing accessories, but as you're a Late Kate, you cannot wear them. You are so late to even comb your hair, let alone wearing accessories. I suggest you to keep the watch, rings, bracelets, earrings, shoes, etc. out, in order to bring forth the Fashionista in you.

Three. Keeping Bag Ready | If I miss out on this the previous night, I am sure to get late. I change my bag with every outfit. So if I am planning the clothes and shoes previous night, I must change my handbag too. The handbag should obviously match my outfit. I transfer all the stuff from the previous bag to the new one. I also remove the junk (like receipts, coupons, tickets, wrappers) from the bag. Weird, but I change my wallet according to the outfit as well. It acts like a bonus, as I can check if I have enough cash with me. Sometimes when I don't have change, I take it from my parents to avoid unnecessary problems with the auto drivers!

Four. Checking for Next Day's To-Dos | I see to it that my to-dos are checked off the previous night. Sometimes, simple to-dos like returning back a friend's pendrive are important too.

I use my 2015 agenda to plan out things, check for to-dos, get reminded for birthdays, etc.

Five. Planning out Breakfast | I'm not a serious or a heavy breakfast-er. I don't have breakfast because honestly I don't have time to cook anything that wouldn't make me feel like throwing up. Yeah, I can have only apple or tea in the morning with a good tummy. This is the case only if I have breakfast at 6 in the morning. If I am having breakfast at 10, then I can have literally anything--from milk to a bowl of spicy misal.
If you too have to get up early at 5:30 and then have breakfast at 6, I highly recommend you to plan out the breakfast previous night. You can hog onto cereals or fruits, but you must be mentally prepared the previous night.

Six. Sleeping & Getting Up Early | Sleeping Early is something obvious yet ignored by most of the youth today. Having a cellphone by your side makes you completely forget what sleep is, unless you get up at 5 o' clock, and can't help but give some rest to your eyes. But unnecessary watching of movies at night won't be good for your health and your early-to-college resolution.
Another important thing is getting up early. If you don't get up early, there's no point in doing all the above 5 things. If you have to sleep a little extra, put the alarm of fifteen minutes earlier. In this way, you would cheat the sleepy-you and be contented that you got that little-extra sleep.

Do you follow these ways?

The last time I'd posted on 'Decorate Notebooks' wasn't a long time ago. I had forgotten to mention that my friend Ganga had decorated another book of hers. I had forgotten to click images yesterday, so I had made it a point to click them today anyhow. So today when there was a combined lecture with Advertising class, I clicked pictures of this notebook.

This time the book is themed blue. I love how gorgeously she's done it.

Firstly, she has stuck a sky blue paper on the cover page of the book. Later, she has put dark blue paper on it in the half side.

Later, she has printed a design of black, blue, white, and green coloured checks. She has cut the design in a rectangular shape and has pasted on the sky blue patch.

Later, she has cut two cloud-like shapes, out of white paper. She has stuck them and written the subject on one of the clouds and TYBMM on the other.
She has also beautifully decorated the clouds.

One of the best things about this decoration is these cute cupcakes. Remember the post about colourful letterheads and visiting cards? She is the same Ganga who has decorated this book as well.
The cupcakes that you see were a part of that project she did last semester. She had three of them left, and so she stuck them here.

Finally, this is the book! Don't these pink cupcakes blend so nicely with the blue hues?

Hello everybody! Finally, the first pack of TPCG's business cards are here. I am very happy and excited to show it to you guys.

Tada! How is it? I am madly in love with it. The first thing I did was sending its picture to all my favourite people. I am so excited to give them one each.

I am sure that these cards will bring good luck to me. They're not really 'business' cards yet, as I don't intend them to be. But if some day they bring in business, I'd be glad. Let's see what 2015 has in its store for TPCG and me.

I am sharing images of the front and the back.

Back Side

The best thing is that I had designed this card on the same day I had designed my blog's new theme. I knew where exactly I would be needing blog's identity. Therefore, I made a profile photo for Facebook page, a cover photo for it, and also business card's front side, right on the spot. I am glad I did it, as it has been a life saviour now.

Here are the links to all the accounts mentioned in the back side of the card-

Remember I had shared a superb trick on TPCG's Facebook page about safeguarding memories of the whole year in a jar? If you had failed to see that photo, let me tell you how exactly it is done, and also share a glimpse of my memory jar!

Memory Jar is something you guys must compulsorily make for yourself. I promise you it's a good idea. If you write down your best memories and then look back at them, I am sure you would be surprised to know how crazy the year was and in which month or on what date you did what that made you smile.

I can guarantee that; whenever I write the Things that I Loved throughout post, it shocks me. More than that, it had surprised me to go through all these posts while I was making 2014 Favourites post; I had totally forgotten all the good memories of the months from January to August. As I write down the good stuff on TPCG towards the month's end, it acts like a memory jar in itself, though a virtual one.

So I really ask you all to start writing the best memories. They'll fill your life with positivity.

I've used a chocolate container as my memory jar. I had thought of putting plastic flowers inside it...but the flowers were pretty expensive. So I chucked the idea. Eventually, I came across the memory jar idea, and that's when I thought that this cylindrical container could be great to execute it.

I've kept this jar near my favourite place--my worktop.

On my worktop, I've kept the long list, stick notes, index cards, fancy papers, etc. to write to-dos, and now, to write the memories as well!

This is one of the memories. I had ordered business cards for TPCG on 5th of this month. Make sure you write the date as well. Towards the end of the year, these dates would act important if you need to know something that had happened around that date.
For instance, if I have to check what had happened on some day of some month, I search all the posts on my blog in that particular month and try to find that event that had taken place.

After writing down the memory, just fold the piece of paper...

...and put it inside the jar.

Isn't it a great idea?

Our results of Semester V (second last semester of BMM) are out today. My result, of course, was 'Successful', meaning that I have passed Semester V successfully.
Though Mumbai University just revealed our status (successful or unsuccessful), I am waiting for my percentage now. The first half (first semester) of the year is always terrible. Half the semester goes in adjusting with new class, new people, friends, subjects, books, or teachers, and we just have remaining half of it. We usually don't score that good in the first semester.

Second half of the year has always been a good pull-up opportunity for me. Everything is settled by then. Even in my FY and SY, I had scored better in second semesters than the first. So even now, as the first half of TY is officially over, it's time to gear up for the second half.

This semester, the subjects are way too tough. The sad part is that I don't know their full names yet! We have press laws, global media, niche market, media management, contemporary issues, etc., in this semester. The reason why I'm fretted is that we have understood very few of whatever has been taught. The subjects are so boring that we cannot pay attention (except for contemporary issues!). I am scared for this semester's exam--the last exam to decide my fortune.

Usually second semesters are always superb for me. But this time it is totally opposite. Though first semester was great, the papers weren't so. Only one subject of Indian Regional Journalism went well. So now I've left with no other option but to pull this semester.

However, we have our Industrial Visit, we had college days, and college fest, so now you know what all must have been taught! Let's see how it goes.

Love.

How are you planning to pull the second half?

I don't know how it clicked me to post my stationary box today. But I'm glad it did. Last year, the stationary box was much smaller than this year's. I promise the size won't increase next year!

I have used a bigger container this time.

My dad used this container while his 2 years stay in China. While coming back, he carried it with him. As soon as I saw it, I fell in love with it, and used it as my new Stationary Box.

This is the stuff inside. The stuff is so much, that I can't even close the container. I keep this box in my computer table's CPU compartment.

Let's take a tour of what's inside-

1. Stick Notes | I took out all the stick notes from the Stick Notes Box and kept them here. Two of them are on my PC table, and rest all are here. Now I keep my accessories in that Stick Notes Box.
2. Stencil of Map of India | I don't want to throw this. It was my brother's when he was in Standard 10th.
3. Two Hole Punch Machines
4. Stapler
5. Red Ribbon
6. Fat Cello Tape
7. White Board Marker
8. Empty Pens  and Sketch Pens
9. Pouch of Water Colours | I might take out the pouch and empty its contents, and then give it to mom. She needs a pouch and I need extra space in this box.

10. Different Types of Cello Tapes | I have so many of 'em!
11. Box of Crayons | My tool while making the calendar last year. (Also check out the themes I used for every month here.)
12. Pencils and Pen-Pencils
13. Scissors and Rulers
14. Glitter Glue
15. Box of Pins
16. Leads
17. Erasers
18. (Small) Stapler Pins

19. Geometrical Instruments
20. Index Cards (Box) and Elastic Bands | Index Cards are over, and I have to make them. I hope you guys remember how to make index cards at home. And don't forget to check my best friend's way of making them.
21. Golden Glitter | Our partner for the DIY Glitter Image for my room's wall.
22. Binding Tape, Binder Clip, Sharpener, Flag, and Clip
23. Stick Fast Glue
24. Large Stapler Pins
25. Highlighter

Remember a year back when I had posted a tutorial on DIY calendar? I hadn't uploaded all the images that time. Before throwing away 2014 calendar, I thought I should click pictures of the calendar and post on TPCG.

I felt sad while throwing the calendar away. This year, I have put up a sleek calendar on my wall. Let's see if I will make a new one, or keep this sleek calendar as it is.
To start with the post, January comes first.

I have used colours according to every month's type. For example, to start the year, I have used Pink and Purple.

I have used Red as February is always known for the Valentine's Day, and it is known as the Month of Love.

I have drawn a cake here as my birthday falls in the month of March. And about the colours used? I have no idea why I have chosen these two.

April is more of Yellow and less of Orange. As April is a hot month, I've used these two colours. The flower denotes Spring here.

It is crazily hot in Mumbai in the month of May. To support this statement, I have used orange and have drawn a sun!

I should have used July's theme for June, and vice versa. Apart from that, the reason why I've drawn two little hearts here is that my mother and elder brother have their birthdays in this month.

June and July are the monsoon months in India. This was the most childish designs of all the twelve.

Though we do not have Fall in India, yet, I went with green and brown colours for August. I loved the font style here.

September's colours were chosen randomly. I find this font to be magical (due to the edges of the letters).

October was supposed to be a fun month. I had drawn a Diya, as Diwali had fallen in October last year. Apart from that, I also used sparkles to decorate the picture.

Remember the Violet/Purple/Lavender Theme of November that I had displayed on Instagram? This was the inspiration behind it. Like September month's theme, even this theme is random.

The only colour left to use was the skin colour. As December is sparkly (and also a Christmas month), I have used this theme.

If you have observed, I had used these similar themes for the images in the post '2014 Favourites'.

Are you making a calendar? Or buying one?
