Flights: International and Domestic
India to Vietnam flight cost
The cost of travelling to Vietnam from India largely depends on your flight expenses. A round-trip ticket from major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, or Bangalore to Hanoi costs around ₹25,000–₹35,000 per person. We paid ₹21,554 per person for a round ticket from Mumbai to Hanoi. VietJet Air, AirAsia, and Thai Airways are budget-friendly options.
- Best Route for Savings: Book flights 2–3 months in advance using websites like Skyscanner.
Vietnam Domestic flights and Alternatives
- Hanoi to Da Nang (for Hoi An): A flight from Hanoi to Da Nang costs ₹2,500–₹4,000.

How to Save Money in Vietnam
- Avoid certain touristy things like Glass Bridge in Sapa. Instead go for Heaven's Gate, which is much cheaper. You save some ₹2,000 per person by doing this.
- Take Grab rides only when there's no other option. Rent out a scooter and roam freely. (Scooter rent: ₹500/day).
- Avoid overnight cruise that starts from Hanoi and takes you on the Ha Long Bay. Instead, stay on Cat Ba island, and book a sunset cruise to La Han Bay to experience the waters yet save money. You also get to explore Cat Ba island by doing this! Save some ₹12,000 - ₹14,000 by doing this.
- Avoid resorts and opt for AirBnbs. You not only save money, but also get local recommendations through the hosts.
- For most mornings, we had banh mi and coffee for breakfast. Consider about ₹200 per person each day.
- Book your flight tickets beforehand. I suggest going in off-season such as August, when we went.
- Avoid the "customised dress stitching" experience in Hoi An. Of course, it's amazing that you get a dress of your choice and material, but that's honestly expensive.
- Don't buy stupid souvenirs like the conical hat or lanterns, as it not only saves space but saves money too.
- Hanoi to Sapa travel: Depending on your group size, decide which is economical, a direct cab (₹12,000 one way) or limousine bus (₹1,900 per person).
- Get a Viettel SIM card from an official store in the city, as opposed to the airport.
