Awe-Inspiring Wonders of the World You Must See Before You Die

by - September 18, 2018

Every person has a bucket list that they make out of passion. Some bucket lists are travel-centric, meaning, they cover incredible destinations around the world and some are related to adventurous activities (like skydiving in Dubai). A few people ardently survive to complete their bucket list, whereas, a few don't take it seriously. No matter who, we are sure to find the Wonders of the World on every person's bucket list. There was a time when we were kids, these wonders were highly celebrated amongst Indian families. Not really sure about how wondrous they are now, but in case you've forgotten their glory, here's a list to freshen your memory.

There are sights all over the world that are awe-inspiring and you should try to see as many of them as you can before you die. Some are new, some are ancients and they are in all sorts of different locations.

THE PYRAMIDS, EGYPT

The Egyptian pyramids are one of the most established wonders of the world. The oldest and largest are the Pyramids of Giza, and it is where many tourists head. They are among the few ancient wonders that are still intact, so you see them in all the grandeur they were built with.

STONEHENGE, UK

Historians still debate why Stonehenge and similar sites found nearby were built and used for. How the stones reached where they are and how they were lifted into their positions is also a mystery. Until recent years, they were just an open place that anyone could walk around, but now in the interests of preservation they are fenced off and guided tours are arranged.

THE GREAT BARRIER REEF, AUSTRALIA

It is hard to imagine the beauty of the Barrier Reef until you have seen it for yourself. A good way to do this is with Barrier Reef tours so that you get to see the best bits with the most stunning fishes and reef that you could miss if you attempt to do this trip on your own.

VICTORIA FALLS, BORDER OF ZAMBIA AND ZIMBABWE

The Victoria Falls are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a truly deserving recognition of some of the most impressive waterfalls in Africa. One must truly visit it to see the massive waterfall that refreshes and mesmerises.

COLOSSEUM OF ROME, ITALY

This towering structure is the world’s largest amphitheatre and one of the best-known places in Rome. Performances are still held there from time to time, but whether you watch a play or visit when it is empty, it really is a must see.

THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA

Being 21,196 km long, the Great Wall of China is said to be the longest wall in the world. From start to finish, the views are stunning and varied, although it is rather a long way to walk its entire length.

TAJ MAHAL, INDIA

If you don’t want to travel far to see a wonder, Taj Mahal is the place for you. At almost 400 years old, the Taj Mahal is one of the most iconic places in the world. It is said to be as beautiful as the day it was built and still manages to wow any visitor.

ANGKOR WAT, CAMBODIA

Anyone visiting Cambodia should not miss these stunning temples. They are a really impressive sight, especially in the soft glow of the sunset or sunrise. There are still monks to help and guide you through this huge array of different buildings.

THE TERRACOTTA ARMY, CHINA

This army of soldiers made from Terracotta has travelled the world but never looks as good as it does in its homeland of China. The workmanship and expertise that went into making these are amazing, and something that is well worth a visit if you are in China.
